One of the most popular operas by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – “The Marriage of Figaro” has always enjoyed great success on the Burgas stage, due to the exceptional mood and artistry with which the production directed by Prof. Pavel Gerdzhikov is charged.

After an almost five-year absence from the Burgas State Opera’s poster, on May 5 at 7:00 PM in the Opera Hall, the comic opera to music by the Viennese classic Mozart and the libretto based on the comedy of the same name by Pierre Beaumarchais will present a dazzling combination of catchy lines between the funny characters, unexpected twists in the plot development, misunderstandings, elegant intrigues with a refined flavor and, of course, a happy instructive finale. Already 240 years after its premiere, the opera "The Marriage of Figaro" continues to be successfully staged on world stages, and its eternal relevance is due both to the exceptional beauty and grace of Mozart's music, which carries a purifying and life-affirming power, and to the entertaining plot with comic elements, which always sounds relevant. The artists and musicians will tell, through the means of musical and theatrical art, an entertaining story with unexpected plot lines and, of course, as the tradition of comic operas dictates, a happy ending.

On Tuesday evening, the Burgas audience will be drawn into an intriguing story with funny and unexpected plot lines, in which comic situations, verbal banter, leading to dramatic turns in relationships, doubts, and diverse emotions, caused by jealousy and passion, are intertwined. The intricate relationships find their logical conclusion in the finale, and the characters, each of whom wins the sympathy of the audience, go on their own life paths satisfied.

The conductor of the performance will be Prof. Ivaylo Krinchev, who, in March this year, conducted the premiere concert program of the Burgas Opera "Masterpieces of the Operetta from Vienna" in Nessebar. The direction of the production is by Prof. Pavel Gerdzhikov, the conductor of the choir is Alexander Chepanov, the concertmaster is Vanya Zlateva, the pianist Yana Marinova performs the piano recitatives, the artist of the exquisite scenography and magnificent costumes, consistent with the spirit of the time, is Chavdar Chomakov, the plastic is by Grisha Roglev, the assistant directors are Lina Peeva and Petar Tiholov.

The image of Figaro, gifted with wit, charisma, and a combinative mind, will be played by bass Kostadin Mechkov. The role of the gentle charmer, the maid of the countess - Susanna, who is devoted to her mistress - Countess Almaviva, as well as to her lover, will be played by soprano Ilina Mihaylova. As the beautiful Countess Almaviva, who is suspected of jealousy due to the lustful thoughts of her husband towards foreign beauties - Count Almaviva, but with the help of her loyal friends and their witty plan, manages to regain the feelings of the count, Nona Krastnikova, soprano, will appear on the Burgas stage. The role of Count Almaviva, who treacherously intends to captivate Figaro's charming fiancée Susanna, will be played by baritone Valery Turmanov. The image of the page Cherubino will be played by mezzo-soprano Maria Yurkovskaya. The role of the housekeeper Marcellina, who also has an important role in the plot development, will be played by Irina Dobrovolskaya, mezzo-soprano. Bass Diman Panchev will play the role of the doctor Don Bartolo, and tenor Yani Nikolov will perform as the music teacher Don Basilio and the judge Don Curzio on the Burgas stage. Petar Tiholov, bass, will play the role of the gardener Antonio, and soprano Stefka Hristozova will play the role of Barbarina, the gardener's daughter.

On Tuesday, the orchestra and choir of the State Opera - Burgas, together with the quality solo cast, will provide the audience with a little escape from the difficult workday. Good mood and aesthetic pleasure from Mozart's immortal music - intelligently presented, with style, exquisite vocal and instrumental expression, as well as portions of laughter, energizing on cold autumn days, are guaranteed.

There will be mood, finesse, a tease, and a pinch of elegantly presented lesson in the performance of "The Marriage of Figaro" on May 5. And the universally acknowledged truth is that Mozart's music, whose 270th anniversary will be celebrated by the world music community in 2026, is a universal balm for healing spiritual wounds in difficult times, with its incomparable grace and filigreely sculpted phrases, carrying an aristocratic flavor and a fine pattern of musical expression, with its life-affirming charge.
