09 august 2021 Brilliant Nabucco Оpenеd Sanctuary Opera Festival in Begliktash
The first evening / August 6, Friday / of the three-day festival "Opera of the Sanctuary" in the Thracian consecration Begliktash with the epic Verdi opera "Nabucco" passed into the symbolism of the magical place. Just minutes after the last notes of the musical score, it rained, expected, and predicted. But not from the ancient priests who ruled - through their spirit and the invisible bridge with the gods, but from the far more pragmatic weather forecast. The forces of nature seemed to be silenced by the influence of Music and its no less magical power! Hundreds of people who came to experience the unique spectacle - in the heart of Strandzha, witnessed the combination of the beauty of art combined with the centuries-old messages of the ancient Thracian mysteries ...
Stable in vocal and musical terms, emotionally influencing and radiating confidence and inner strength, despite the unusual and too difficult to adapt the scenography of the opera, were all on the open stage tonight. There was no starlight on it, but because of the clouds. Both the soloists and the choir / with conductor Nevena Mihailova /, and the orchestra / under the baton of maestro Ivaylo Krinchev, concertmaster - Yordan Kovachev /, and the ballet / choreography - Galina Kalcheva / were magnificent and influential! All performers recreated in full - as interpretive mastery and emotion, the exciting story of the king of Babylon Nabucco / in the role - the brilliant baritone Marian Jovanoski /, the dramatic fate of Abigail - the amazing soprano Joanna Zhelezcheva, Fenena, whose love for the non-believer Ishmael / guest soloist Valery Georgiev, tenor with a wonderful timbre / turned out to be stronger than the family orders - in the role of a successful debut made mezzo-soprano Joanna Kadiyska - beautiful and talented. Kostadin Mechkov, bass - as the High Priest of the Babylonians, soprano Lyudmila Mihailova - as Anna, Zachariah's sister, and tenor Milen Dinolov - as Chief of Guard were also among the rock relics of Begliktash with a strong artistic presence and professional sounding.
A kind of anthem of the merging of Nature and Music was the famous "Choir of the Jews", when it seemed that the earthly forces fell silent to give expression to the heavenly melody.
Admiration for the unique artistic feat for the conductor Ivaylo Krinchev, for all artists and musicians - to perform Verdi's difficult score amidst the mountain reality and natural challenges!
Everyone - fused by the energy charge of the sacred place, created the magic on Friday night!
Of course, we should also mention the traditionally high level of technical services, which for several days took care of ensuring the overall vision of the show - the professionals "behind the scenes" also deserve due admiration! In these non-standard and difficult conditions for the realization of such a large-scale opera performance, the work done by the people responsible for the technical equipment, lighting, sound system were perfect! Congratulations also to the prompter Dora Fartunova and Srebrina Slavova, whose work is the subtitles, projected on a specially prepared screen, for the organizers, the cashiers, the wardrobes, the employees in charge of make-up and wigs - the team of the State Opera - Burgas, as always, proved that the common cause is worth the professional effort!
Congratulations for the magnificent performance for Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alexander Tekeliev, Director of the State Opera - Burgas and director of the three performances of the festival "Opera of the Sanctuary" / assistant directors are Lina Peeva and Peter Tiholov / - for the courage to continue the tradition - after the great success of "Norma" two years ago, to plan and implement an event of a similar scale - again, with the partnership of the Municipality of Primorsko!
