Stefan Lalchev was born on January 9, 1930, in the town of Stara Zagora, yhis year we celebrate 90 years since his birth. Lalchev graduated from the Bulgarian State Conservatory in the first class of choral conducting by Prof. Georgi Dimitrov. His teachers were luminaries such as Parashkev Hadjiev, Marin Goleminov, Veselin Stoyanov Ivan Peev, Todor Popov, and his fellow students were the world opera prima Raina Kabaivanska and maestro Hristo Nedyalkov. Back in 1957, Stefan Lalchev was appointed the first full-time conductor of the Burgas Amateur / then / Opera. My whole ascending creative path passes into the seaside town. He was twice awarded the Order of Cyril and Methodius - I degree and once the Order of Cyril and Methodius - II degree. In addition, he has won many other awards and medals, as well as the "Golden Lyre" of the Union of Musicians in Bulgaria and the "Golden Lyre" of the Union of Bulgarian Composers.

For 20 years Stefan Lalchev was director of the Secondary Music School in Burgas / currently NUMSI "Prof. Pancho Valdigerov. His creative biography also includes his work as a director and chief artistic director of the State Opera - Burgas / in the period 1981 - 1985 /, director of the Music Directorate in the seaside town. He has been an honorary citizen of Burgas since 2005.
