The penultimate event of the summer calendar of the Burgas Music Festivals "Emil Chakerov" 2022, successfully realized for the fifteenth year in a row by the State Opera - Burgas and the Municipality of Burgas, is the ballet classic "Giselle" to the music of Adolf Adam. "Giselle" is considered one of the most romantic ballet works. On the stage of the Summer Theater in Burgas - Saturday, August 27, at 8:30 p.m., the exciting reading of the beautiful love story will be presented again - staged and directed by Galina Kalcheva, who is also the artistic director of the ballet troupe of the Burgas Opera. The production of "Giselle", which premiered with great success to a full house in April 2021, has a completely new set and costumes, impressive with a romantic scope, a sense of detail characteristic of the era and the messages of the work.

The choreography of the ballet in two acts "Giselle" is by Jean Coralli, Jules Perrault and Marius Petipa /edited by Leonid Lavrovsky/. The designer of the set is the outstanding Bulgarian master in the field of scenographic art, Ivan Tokadjiev, who recently created the impressive scenography of the premiere production of the ballet "Don Quixote" on the Burgas stage. Anna-Maria Tokadzhieva is the designer of the exquisite costumes, tailored to the style of the production, Petar Tiholov is the assistant director.

The character of the tender innocent girl Giselle with a tragic fate, who through the power of her love manages to save her beloved, even from the destructive world of shadows, will be presented in her debut by the prima ballerina of the State Opera - Stara Zagora, Anelia Dimitrova. "Another ballet dream of mine is about to come true," the graceful prima ballerina does not hide her excitement before the performance. She was irresistible in the role of Kitri in the ballet "Don Quixote", also staged by Galina Kalcheva - on August 15, in a brilliant partnership with the premier ballet dancer Daniel Tichkov, as well as the temperamental Pahita in the ballet of the same name by Ludwig Minkus - in April this year in the hall of the Burgas Opera, and in the tragic image of Nikia in Minkus' Bayadere - both on the Burgas and Sliven stage - during the visit of the Burgas Ballet troupe in the Drama Theater in May "Stefan Kirov".

On Saturday, the premier ballet dancer of the Sofia Opera and Ballet and the Burgas Opera, Emil Yordanov, will appear on the open stage in Primorski Park in Burgas, in partnership with the prima ballerina of the Staro Zagora Opera, in the role of Albert, a prince disguised as an ordinary village boy. He constructs the image with remarkable psychologism and depth, underpinned by magnificent technique and memorable stage presence.

The young ballerina Emona Georgieva, winner of a number of prestigious international and national awards, plays the role of Mirta, the leader of the vilis. According to Slavic legends, vilis are fairy-tale creatures – spirits of maidens who left earthly life before settling down. The young imperishable creatures found no rest in the grave, for in life they had not satisfied their desire to dance. Therefore, they come out of their graves at night, gather in groups along the main roads and wait for passers-by, drag them into incessant dances until they drop dead from exhaustion. The image of the forester Hans, who is hopelessly in love with Giselle, without the beautiful girl sharing his feelings, will be presented by the soloist of the ballet troupe of the Burgas Opera Theodor Tsakov.

Anelia Ivanova will play the role of Bathilda, Svetlan Nikolov will play the Duke, Sofia Lovdzhieva will play Bertha, Stefan Tipikov will play Wilfred. The attractive dynamic Pa de deux in the first act will be presented by Natalie Ivanova and Kiril Filipov. On the beautifully decorated stage of the Summer Theater on Saturday, the following will also appear: Yana Berduta, Daniela Turtumanova-Stoyanova /as two villanis, as well as Giselle's friends/; Giselle's friends are also - Raya Chakarova, Iva Ovcharova, Ilina Konstantinova, Iva Ovcharova, Sabina Koseva. Soloists and an ensemble of the ballet ensemble of the State Opera - Burgas also take part in the large-scale performance, each of them - an integral part of the overall extravaganza and emotional suggestion of the romantic work: Bianca-Helen Giovanelli, Elena Georgieva, Maria Gabarova, Teddy Dimitrova, Patricia Soares, Ivana Fialkovska, Gergana Georgieva, Natalie Georgieva, Simona Marinova, Nikol Marenova, Savina Petrova, Daniel Tichkova, Stoyan Furtunov, Daniel Dimitrov, Nayden Naydenov.
