23 august 2024 Attractive Performance Of The "Corsair" Ballet On Monday

A performance of the newest title of the ballet troupe of the Burgas Opera - "Corsair", which had its brilliant premiere on June 8th of this year in the Opera hall, and had its successful second performance on July 15th on the stage of the Summer Theater, is coming to August 26 at 8:30 p.m., also on the open stage in Primorski Park of Burgas. The performance is the penultimate of the program of the Burgas Music Festival "Emil Chakarov", carried out for the seventeenth time in a row by the State Opera - Burgas and the Municipality of Burgas. The ballet is set to music by Adolphe Adam, César Puni, Leo Delibe, Riccardo Drigo, and Piotr Oldenburgski, the choreography is by Marius Petipa, Joseph Mazile, Konstantin Sergeev, the libretto is by Jules-Henri Vernois de Saint-Georges, based on the poem "The Corsair " by George Byron. The staging and direction are by Galina Kalcheva, and the set design is by Ivan Tokadzhiev.

The attractive large-scale production will offer a real stage spectacle - both in scenography and costumes and in direction and artistic presence. The audience will be drawn into the dizzying plot with exotic elements in which love, jealousy, and insidious plans for revenge are woven, and above all the apotheosis of true feelings is asserted, having passed through insidious undercurrents and reefs, unfurling its sails boldly to lead the ship of love on the high seas - where happiness is visible on the horizon. The production of "Corsair" is colored by strong emotions, experienced by performers, creators who created the magnificence of the stage, the audience, and all the professionals who worked for it, who were fully devoted to the birth process of the new title in the repertoire of the Burgas Opera.

The solo lineup of "Corsair" will again be first class. Flawless, inspired, and extremely committed to recreating the images will be all the many actors on stage who tell the wonderful story of love, betrayal, revenge, and exotic experiences - like changing frames from an adventure film - with a pirate ship, a slave market, the chambers of the nobleman, enchanted gardens in his dream, in which beautiful concubines dance. On August 26, brilliant soloists will appear on the stage of the Summer Theater: the prima ballerina of the Burgas Opera Daniela Turtumanova-Stoyanova - as Medora, the beloved of the pirate Konrad, who performed the role in both previous performances. She is confident and charming with finesse and airy movements that represent her gentle nature. The soloist of the ballet troupe Teodor Tsakov, winner of this year's award on the occasion of May 24 for high achievements in the field of culture from the mayor of the Municipality of Burgas - Mr. Dimitar Nikolov, played the role of the slave trader Isaac Linkedem in the first two performances, and August 26 enters the image of the noble pirate Conrad, who knows how to love tenderly and severely punishes treason with dignity. Magnificent - after his wonderful role of Jester in "Swan Lake" a few days ago, Daniel Tichkov, premier ballet dancer of the State Opera - Burgas, will be once again in the role of Konrad's faithful servant - Ali. A whirlwind role is coming again for the soloist of the ballet company Kiril Filipov - in the complex image of Birbanto, as is often the life case - insidiousness under the guise of friendship. An exciting debut in the role of Gulnara, Medora's friend, is coming for the young ballerina Ilina Konstantinova. Another debut at the upcoming performance - in the role of Linkedem, will be made by the Japanese ballet dancer Haru Nakagawa, who recently joined the ballet troupe, and in the first two performances of "Corsair" he played the humorous role of Said Pasha's Secretary. He will be extremely funny to be again Yordan Hristozov, soloist of the opera troupe, in the unusual role of the characteristic role of a lustful nobleman – Said Pasha. The temperamental role of Zyulma will be played by Rafaela-Maria Kül, who will be in an impressive stage tandem with Kiril Filipov–Birbanto. Magical odalisques, as if materialized from the tales of Scheherazade, will be Nanako Sato, Yana Berduta /troupe soloist/ and Vasilena Todorova. The characters of the temperamental attractive pirates will include Francesco Pio Russo, Shun Kalahune, Kircho Zhelyazkov, and Nayden Naydenov. Kalina Nedelcheva, Alexandrina Arabska, Gergana Georgieva and Gergana Kozarova take part in the lavish performance - as the pirates' wives.

Wonderful will be again all the artists on the stage of the Summer Theater on August 26, Monday - and in the large-scale ensembles, and in the attractive scenes of the square with the slave market, and the wonderful oriental palace, and in the open sea, when a storm knocks down the sails, but Fate is kind to the lovers and saves them on the shore of their shared happiness... The wonderful graduates of NUMSI "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov" took part in the show, and distinguished themselves at the premiere and the show on July 15 with their responsible attitude, talent, and grace, as well as to the artists from the choir of the Burgas Opera - for the beautifully executed artistic tasks in the large-scale picture of the performance.

The choreography and direction of "Corsair" are by Galina Kalcheva. The long-time prima ballerina of the Burgas Opera already has other titles in her portfolio as a director - "Don Quixote", "Giselle", "Pahita" and "The Badly Protected Girl", which were presented with great success and high audience interest in the last three years at Burgas stage, contain original elements and a staging approach, combines the canons of classical ballet with the innovative scenographic solutions of Ivan Tokadzhiev, in which scenery overflowing with multimedia effects was woven in. The premiere title proved that there are no barriers in the field of stage art innovative searches and original solutions. The costumes, wigs, make-up, and props are fabulous and thematic, made in the spirit of the Orient, whose color palette, saturated with bright colors, aromas, sounds, and atmosphere, was recreated - like a living picture from the Sultan's palaces.

The choreographers Galina Kalcheva and Marina Zmeeva-Markova are tutors of the ballet ensemble. The assistant director of the production is Petar Tiholov.
