09 december 2024 Beautiful Мusic Аnd Сoloists Аt "My Fair Lady" Оn Wednesday
After the glamorous emotional premiere performance – on August 2 of this year, the wonderful performances – on August 30 and October 9, the fourth stage realization of the famous Broadway musical “My Fair Lady” is coming – on December 11 at 7 p.m. in the hall of the State Opera – Burgas. 60 years after the world premiere of one of the most popular musicals – with Rex Harrison and Audrey Hepburn in the lead roles – in the film version, the fourth performance of the latest production of the Burgas Opera is coming. The plot of one of the most performed musicals worldwide is entertaining and brings the much-needed dose of romance and life philosophy. Every link in the production, a thought embedded in the fabric of the storyline, every note, word, phrase, breath, smile, and sigh, every conducting gesture of the undisputed master behind the console – Ivan Kozhuharov, every directorial, scenographic, choreographic and costume design concept transformed into the feast of the stage – everything has the halo of Broadway glamour and at the same time – theatrical depth and emotional impact.
On Wednesday, December 11, a top-class production will be created again - scene after scene, like a Hollywood production from the "good old days", under the all-encompassing directorial eye of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alexander Tekeliev has proven many times that he is a contemporary thinker and innovator - with taste, depth of interpretation, and breadth of expressive means. Magnificent - both with overall perception and with every detail in its place, are: the scenography by Ivan Tokadzhiev, skillfully combined with multimedia, the costumes - over 200 in number - by Yana Dvoretska, the choreography - by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anna Pampulova. All the performers - soloists, orchestra, choir, and ballet - will be wonderful on stage on Wednesday. The performance "My Fair Lady" is an intriguing interpretation of the popular work - according to the canons of our time, with a dose of provocation, avant-garde scenography, and impressive costumes. The choir's conductor, who has an important role in the stage action, is Alexander Chepanov, Ani Tokadzhieva is the author of the 3D mapping, the assistant director – Lina Peeva, and the accompanist – is Mira Iskarova.
The eminent master behind the console Ivan Kozhuharov, conductor-director, reveals – with his typical perfectionism and sense for the essential components of quality performance, that the musicians of the orchestra play with great pleasure, achieving a true Hollywood sound, which is completely in the spirit of the musical “My Fair Lady”.
The composition of the performance of “My Fair Lady” on December 11 has minor differences from the premiere. All the soloists are expected to be excellent again, as well as the artists of the Burgas Opera, the singers of the choir, the musicians of the wonderful-sounding orchestra - completely in Broadway style, the wonderful ballet dancers, who presented whirlwind characteristic dances, as well as elegant charming waltzes.
The musical, in addition to the philosophical line and the funny moments, is above all a tale of love - denied, ridiculed, carefully hidden, but stronger than any prejudice, omnipresent.
The charismatic soprano Ilina Mihaylova /guest/ again takes on the role of the street flower seller Eliza Doolittle, who has become a sophisticated lady, under the skillful professional gaze of the professor of phonetics Henry Higgins. She was irresistible at the premiere of "My Fair Lady", as well as at the performance on August 30, which officially closed the Burgas Music Festival "Emil Chakarov" 2024 on the stage of the Summer Theater. Ilina Mihaylova spreads a natural charm, backed by gushing talent and whirlwind emotion, but will also make the audience empathize with her story and fall in love with her. Tenor Marcho Apostolov /guest/, soloist of the National Music Theater "Stefan Makedonski", will once again be fully in his inherent role of an aristocrat with manners, style, and class - as Professor Higgins. The image of Pickering seems to be "tailor-made" for the bass Petar Tiholov - he achieves a very good stage presence and gives the role the characteristic English strict finesse. Bass Diman Panchev will perform in the comic role of Eliza's father - Alfred Doolittle. He is like a sweeping ball of energy, evoking wild laughter and sympathy, and as a bonus to the role were the wonderfully presented dances - together with the stage partners and the ballet artists. After his successful debut in the role of Freddy Hill - on October 9 in the Opera Hall, the tenor Yanni Nikolov will again be in the image of the romantically in love young man Freddy. Mezzo-soprano Irina Dobrovolskaya will once again convincingly build the characteristic image of Mrs. Pierce, harsh in appearance, but hiding a tender, compassionate heart. Soprano Stefka Hristozova will again be in the role of the aristocratic mother of Henry Higgins, who is like a "good fairy" for the contradictory relationship of her son - a sworn bachelor, with his student Eliza Doolittle. Shmilena Sultanova, soprano, will present herself dignified as Mrs. Hill, the mother of Freddy Hill, a young man hopelessly in love with Eliza. In the images of the two likable drunkards, Doolittle's friends: Harry and Jamie - Georgi Bozveliev and Miroslav Dimitrov will play, Emil Peychev will play the role of the Innkeeper, Milen Georgiev - Northerner, Bozhidar Kmetov - Southerner, Milen Dinolov - Westerner, Darina Zapryanova - Mrs. Hopkins, Kalina Popova - Queen of Transylvania, Ambassador - Alexander Perperiev.
Congratulations deserve all the artists who, during the long rehearsal process, have mastered the dialect language to perfection, which, according to the director - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alexander Tekeliev is a collaboration of the dialects of several regions in Bulgaria, and the characteristic speech, provoking wild laughter in the audience, is part of the charisma of the performance. All the artists, except for the professionals from the ballet troupe, have mastered the whirlwind dances surprisingly well and performed them with visible pleasure. The musicians of the orchestra are also impeccable – with concertmasters Vanya Zlateva and Hristo Belchev, for whom the performance is tantamount to a real pleasure from the wonderful score, presented masterfully and with mood.

The artists of the choir are also magnificent – both in terms of sound and terms of perfectly executed artistic tasks. And the ballet will once again be at the height of the best Broadway traditions.
