05 may 2021 Burgas Opera Singers Celebrate Europe Day Мusical works from the songs of European countries will be performed at the concert "Songs of Europe" on May 9

Exactly on May 9, Sunday, a date we celebrate as the Day of United Europe, the soloists of the State Opera - Burgas have prepared a rich concert program, including works from the vocal works of European composers, united under the title "Songs of Europe". The concert is from 7 pm in the hall of the Burgas Opera.

Europe Day, celebrated on 9 May each year, is dedicated to peace and unity in Europe. This date marks the anniversary of the historic Schuman Declaration. In a 1950 speech in Paris, Robert Schuman, the French foreign minister at the time, shared his idea of a new form of political cooperation in Europe that would make war between European nations unthinkable. Only a year later, the contract for the establishment of such an institution was signed. Schuman's proposal is considered the beginning of this union of member states, which we now call the European Union. Every year, thousands of people take part in visits, debates, concerts, and other events dedicated to Europe Day, which aims to raise awareness of the Union.

Last year, 2020, due to the complete closure of cultural institutions, the Burgas Opera participated in the online program dedicated to Europe Day - "Burgas is Hope", an initiative of the Municipality of Burgas and Veselin Prenerov, Chairman of the Committee on Culture at the Municipal Council and executive director of RN Mediagroup. The concert was attended by the soloists of the State Opera - Burgas Maria Tsvetkova-Madjarova, Yani Nikolov, on the piano - Raina Popova. They also sent their messages for more hope in times of trial for all mankind.

This year, fortunately, the objective circumstances are more favorable and the holiday concert will take place live. The program, which includes famous works of European artists, includes soloists: soprano Maria Tsvetkova-Madzharova / she will present songs by Frederic Chopin, Franz Schubert, Lubomir Pipkov and Georgi Zlatev Cherkin /, Nona Krasnikova, soprano, will performed vocal works by Enrique Granados, Bach-Gounod and Janis, mezzo-soprano Ioana Kadijska will sing compositions by Kurt Weil, Franz Schubert, and Manuel de Faia. Tenor Yani Nikolov will present works by Francesco Paolo Tosti and Cesare Andrea Bixio. The baritone Branimir Nedkov has prepared the vocal composition with a philosophical sound "Hurry up, Kronos" by Schubert, and the bass Kostadin Mechkov will sing songs by Johannes Brahms and Dobri Hristov. The soloists will also present joint performances. Pianists Daria Krasteva and Nina Reichel will be on the piano. Among the vocal works selected for the concert, there will be solo piano performances - as an elegant addition to the sophisticated program. As a brilliant code of the concert with a festive title and message will be perhaps the popular "Ode to Joy" from the 9th Symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven, which is also the anthem of United Europe. The anthem of Europe will be performed by all participants in the concert.
