After a break in connection with the complicated epidemic situation and postponed performances in December, in order to protect the health of the artistic staff of the State Opera - Burgas and the subsequent annual leave for the cultural institution in January, fans of classical music will have the opportunity to a rich selection of events in the coming month of February.
The first stage event will be on February 4, at 7 pm, at the Opera Hall. The conductor of the Burgas Opera Orchestra Tsanislav Petkov has selected a diverse program, including works by artists from different eras: "Concerto Grosso" by the Italian Baroque composer of the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries Arcangelo Corelli, "Divertimento" by the great representative of the Viennese classical Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart School, Symphony No. 7 by the 19th-century German composer Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdi and Tchaikovsky's Variations on a Theme by the late 19th and early 20th-century Russian composer Anton Arensky. The concertmaster will be Vanya Zlateva.
On February 9, at 7 pm, fans of classical vocal mastery will be delighted with the concert "Evening of German Music", with soloists: Shmilena Sultanova, soprano, Branimir Nedkov, baritone, on the piano - Daria Krasteva. The program includes famous works by Brahms, Schumann, Schubert, Hugo Wolf, and others.
Fans of ballet art will have the opportunity to experience the enchanting production "The Nutcracker", which was postponed in December. The ballet on the immortal music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, choreography and direction - Prof. Hikmet Mehmedov, tutor of the ballet ensemble - Galina Kalcheva, аssistant director - Petar Tiholov, is with the participation of soloists and ensemble of the Burgas Opera.
On Valentine's Day - February 14, from 19:00, for all who are subject to the feeling of love, mezzo-soprano Ioana Kadiyska, baritone Valeri Turmanov, and Mira Iskarova - on the piano, have prepared an exciting set of arias and duets, united under the title "American Love". The concert performance includes famous and beloved melodies from the musicals "West Side Story", "Porgy and Bess", "The Phantom of the Opera", "The Man from La Mancha", "The Wizard of Oz", "The Cats" and others.
The February program also includes fans of classical opera - the beloved opera by Giuseppe Verdi "Rigoletto", which is characterized by its dramatic plot and extremely beautiful musical motifs, which have become iconic, will be presented on February 17, by 19 hours. The conductor of the performance is Tsanislav Petkov, directed by Alexander Tekeliev, conductor of the choir - Nevena Mihaylova, featuring: Alexander Krunev, Daniel Damyanov, Maria Tsvetkova-Madjarov, Diman Panchev, Lina Peeva, Kalina Popova, Kostadin Mechkov, Delyan Slavov, Shmilena Sultanova, Branimir Nedovkov, Aglika Petrova, with the participation of orchestra, choir, and ballet of the State Opera - Burgas.
The symphonic concert, scheduled for February 25, at 7 pm, is conducted by maestro Yordan Daffov, the soloist will be the clarinetist Rosen Idealov, the concertmaster - Vanya Zlateva. The program includes works by Benjamin Britten, Marin Goleminov, Yordan Daffov, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
For our youngest spectators, who are thirsty for cultural entertainment in the long months of isolation, the program includes two performances - "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" by Atanas Kosev - on February 20, at 11 am, in the Opera Hall, and the children's opera by Alexander Yosiffov "Max and Moritz" - on February 27, from 11 am, also in the Opera Hall.

Tsanislav Petkov is only 31 years old but has an enviable career as a conductor. Born in Ruse in a family of pianists. He completed his secondary education with a degree in piano at NUMSI "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov ”- Burgas in the class of Julia Nenova. In 2015 he graduated from the National Music Academy "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov ”with a degree in opera and symphony conducting in the class of Prof. Plamen Djurov and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Georgi Patrikov. He has conducted many projects as a student, and his debut was as a conductor of the Academic Symphony Orchestra. He was the conductor of the orchestra of the National Musical Theater "Stefan Makedonski" - Sofia.
From the same year until today he is chief artistic director and conductor of the Chamber Orchestra - Haskovo, and since 2017 he is conductor at the State Opera - Burgas. It partners with a number of orchestras on the territory of Bulgaria, including the Sofia Philharmonic, European Youth Symphony Orchestra "Progressive", Symphony Orchestra - Sliven, Symphony Orchestras in Vratsa and Vidin, Chamber Orchestra "Dianopolis" - Yambol, and some of the most famous Bulgarian singers. such as Svetlin Rusev, Vesko Eshkenazi, Mila Georgieva, Stoyka Milanova and others.
