14 february 2023 The Comic Opera "The Beautiful Elena" Delights Fans On Friday

After the wonderful concert with music from the classic French cinema "Love Story" yesterday, another exciting event is coming up. The program of the State Opera - Burgas continues with an attractive title that has always been presented with expected success and enthusiastic audiences - the comic opera by Jacques Offenbach "The Beautiful Elena".

The main actors of the highly successful concert "Love Story", dedicated to the Day of Love and Wine, February 14 - conductor Deyan Pavlov and soloists Ioana Kadiyska, mezzo-soprano, and tenor Yani Nikolov, will be in artistic partnership again on February 17, Friday, from 7 p.m., on the stage of the Burgas Opera House. The attractive title, which guarantees a dynamic plot, lavish scenography, as well as occasions for genuine laughter, is on February 24th at 7 pm in the hall of the Burgas Opera House.

All the participants in the attractive production, the work of the director, Assoc. Dr. Alexander Tekeliev, show a high level of interpretive art and present the qualities of the show in the best possible way.

"The Beautiful Elena" is distinguished by innovative concepts and elements of a reference to modern times. The performance is impressive with the credibility in the transmission of the historical era, with the lavish extravagance of the feasts in the ancient temples and the characterology of the sacrifices. Original humor with contemporary references is a guarantee for two and a half hours of laughter and a little elegant escape from everyday life. The performance impresses with exuberance - of colors and shades - in emotions, costumes, make-up, wigs, and props. The atmosphere of the ancient Greek temples and the gods who are in direct contact with the mortals, monitor their relationships, and intervene in them are presented faithfully and with an intelligent pinch of teasing.

The beautiful sets, in sync with the characteristic costumes, as well as every detail of the production, made entirely in ancient Greek style, will transport the attendees to the Opera hall on the eve of the holiday in ancient times - before the start of the Trojan War.

Once again, on February 17, the Burgas audience will appreciate the directorial merits of Prof. Tekeliev, as well as the originality and lush visual rhetoric of the scenography - the work of Boris Stoinov, the attractive costumes of Tsvetanka Petkova-Stoynova, completely in sync with the era presented, and the choreography of Grisha Roglev. And another important thing - the comic opera is performed in Bulgarian.

Deyan Pavlov is behind the conductor's desk on Friday, and Hristo Belchev is the concertmaster of the orchestra. In addition to the concert performance of "Love Story", maestro Pavlov also conducted the comic opera "The Beautiful Elena" with great success at the end of November 2022, when the performance was specially designed for over 600 students from the French High School and the "Konstantin Fotinov" PGE.

The beautiful mezzo-soprano Ioana Kadiyska, winner of the first prize at the First National Competition for Young Opera Singers with International Participation "Stoyan Popov", will play the role of Beautiful Elena, the queen of Sparta and wife of Menelaus / October 17-21, 2022 /

The young opera singer is the embodiment of the regal image she presents – with her innate charisma and beauty, with her sophisticated approach to character building, her dense rich feminine timbre, and her acting skills.

Warm nuances of the voice and a beautifully constructed lyrical line are presented by the tenor Yani Nikolov - as Paris, son of the king of Troy Priam. The baritone Yordan Hristozov builds the funny grotesque image of the deceived husband Menelaus, king of Sparta - with humorous banter and artistry. With cult catchy lines and a memorable presence, the bass Diman Panchev presents himself - as the priest with lustful thoughts of Calchas. Countertenor Dimitar Arnaudov - a guest - will make a bright incarnation of the role of Orestes, son of Agamemnon, on the Burgas stage. The role was originally written for a countertenor but is often performed by a soprano, due to the rare range and pitches in the male vocal register.

All the other artists from the Burgas Opera have a dizzying stage presence: Miroslav Dimitrov - as the messenger god Mercury, Lina Peeva - the goddess of love Venus, Kalina Popova - Juno, queen of the Olympian gods, wife of Jupiter, patroness of marriage and family, Polina Bakhchevanova - Minerva, goddess of wisdom, science, crafts, and war, Branimir Nedkov - as the king of kings Agamemnon, Kostadin Mechkov - Achilles, Thessalian hero, king of Phtiotis, Milen Dinolov - Ajax I, king of Salamis, Lubomir Todorov - Ajax II, king of Locrians, Nikolay Nikolov – the servant of Calchas Philokomus, Stefka Hristozova – Bacchis, the trusted maid and confidant of Elena, Nathalie Ivanova – as Laena, Iva Ovcharova – Parfenis.

In the comic opera "The Beautiful Elena" the artistic compositions of the orchestra, choir (with choirmaster Nevena Mihailova), and the ballet of the Burgas Opera (with tutor Galina Kalcheva) take part, and the assistant director of the production is Petar Tiholov.

On Friday evening, the audience will once again have the chance to experience a masterfully presented spectacle, achieved by the collective artistic energy of the conductor, soloists, orchestra, choir, and ballet.
