18 july 2023 Delightful "Tosca" In The Open-Air Theater Of Burgas
The warm summer evening of July 18 by the seashore and the unique stage of the Summer Theater in Burgas were subject to stirring passions and antagonistic feelings, united by the sublime music of Puccini and the captivating performance of the soloists, orchestra, and chorus of the Burgas State Opera, under the baton of Ivan Kozhuharov - with the musical-dramaturgical masterpiece "Tosca".
The soloists were exceptional, weaving the emotional power of their voices into a single flow of impactful beauty!
The choir and the orchestra complemented the overall suggestion of tragic doom - through brilliantly constructed dynamics and meaningful-emotional amplitudes.
The beautiful melody of Puccini's music was "leaved" - phrase by phrase, organically weaving the messages of the dramatic story with a tragic ending. The wave of feelings passed both smoothly and in spurts following the logical line, reaching those present - through the energy invested in the sound.
The magnificent soprano Yoana Zhelezcheva, who was recently no less impressive in the role of Amelia in "Ball with Masks" - both on the stage of the Summer Theater in Burgas and in the MDT "Konstantin Kisimov" - Veliko Tarnovo, at the opening of the "Stage of the Ages" Festival, once again proved her class - as a bright stage presence, an emotional fusion with the image, transformed through the entire depth of her artistic essence, through the brilliantly constructed shades of the tragic a character with the whole spectrum of feelings - from tender longing to the tragedy of fatal choice. Filigree dynamics and beauty in the sculpting of the phrases, a rich timbre palette and finesse, combined with extraordinary power - a real Tosca, embodied in sound and overall image.
Her stage partner from "Ball with Masks" - the tenor Valery Georgiev, was completely merged emotionally, meaningfully, and in terms of building the storyline, with the role of Floria Tosca. The warm reflections in his voice, combined with the softness of the character's character and at the same time - firmness in standing up for principles and love, were sufficient attestation to build a convincing character - with all the merits of one of the iconic male parts. Cavaradossi's infamous Aria moved the audience and elicited a thunderous, sustained ovation from them.
No less impressive - as a power of suggestion and a bright dense dramatic timbre, saturated with the messages of Puccini's dramatic score, was the eminent baritone Niko Iskakov /guest/ - in the role of Baron Scarpia. His strong emotional imprint on the overall appearance of the performance was admirable. And the famous Te Deum raised the sound to the best examples worldwide - not only in terms of precision of performance but also in terms of charge and invested thought.
The audience - numerous and empathetic, sent each of the signature arias, duets, and choral parts with spontaneous applause - the emotional fusion between performers and attendees was there.
At the end of the exciting performance, part of the program of the Burgas Music Festival "Emil Chakarov", the traditional basket of flowers was presented on behalf of the Mayor of the Municipality of Burgas - Mr. Dimitar Nikolov.
