The evening of August 30 marked the successful end of an extremely rich and undeniably successful season of the Burgas State Opera.
Before the closing of the 2023/2024 Season with the second performance of the latest production of the Burgas Cultural Institute, there was the official ceremony of awarding the prestigious prize in the name of the world-renowned conductor Emil Chakarov. This year, the honor deservedly went to Edelina Kaneva, director of the National Musical Theater "Stefan Makedonski", singer, producer, screenwriter, and translator.
The award was presented by the deputy mayor in charge of "Culture and Religions" at the Municipality of Burgas - Diana Savateva, who emphasized the importance of the Burgas Opera for the rich cultural life of our seaside city. She presented the statuette named after Emil Chakarov, flowers, and a diploma on behalf of the Mayor of Burgas Municipality - Dimitar Nikolov, to the famous singer who is creatively and emotionally connected to Burgas.
For his part, Assoc. Dr. Alexander Tekeliev Alexander Tekeliev, director of the State Opera—Burgas, thanked Edelina Kaneva for the long-term successful cooperation and the Municipality of Burgas for the permanent support. He also presented the opera house with flowers as a sign of respect and appreciation.
After the official part of the evening, the Broadway musical MY FAIR LADY was presented - after the famous premiere on August 2, and today the production proved that it brings the best characteristics of the genre, presented with scope, taste, and glamour.
Admirations for all magnificent performers - soloists, orchestra, choir, and ballet, and the unifier of the entire large-scale creative process - the famous conductor Ivan Kozhuharov!

The production gains creative momentum - in the most constructive sense, and acquires an increasingly glamorous overall appearance. The artistic team was more confident and even more motivated - after the success of the premiere performance. It is an indisputable fact that the audience likes and admires the directorial skills of Assoc. Dr. Alexander Tekeliev, who, adhering to the classic canons of the musical genre, has managed to give a unique sound and weave an original reading into the story fabric.

Everyone - artists and musicians - were brilliant and inspired - the pleasure of creating real, unadulterated, exciting, energizing, transformative art was there! Congratulations also to all the specialists from the technical services, who recreated through multimedia effects the authentic London atmosphere from the beginning of the last century.

At the end of the emotional performance, baskets of flowers were presented on behalf of Prof. Maria Neikova, regional governor, and the mayor of Burgas Municipality - Dimitar Nikolov.

The entire artistic staff of the Burgas Opera goes on paid annual leave until September 27.
Stay tuned for the October program —on October 9, at 7 p.m., the third performance of the musical "My Fair Lady" will be held in the Opera House. On October 4, a Symphony concert under the baton of maestro Deyan Pavlov is coming up.
