On the cold last night of November, when we send off another difficult month, hoping for calmer pre-Christmas days, the Burgas Opera was once again an aesthetic pier. A wonderful musical and artistic evening was created, combining variations from Act III of the ballet "Paquita" by Ludwig Minkus and the stage cantata by Carl Orff "Carmina Burana", staged and directed by Galina Kalcheva, who is also a tutor of the ballet ensemble / assistant director Peter Tiholov.

Behind the conductor's stand at both performances was maestro Ivan Kozhuharov, who again managed to unite the energy charge of all over 100 performers and to convey the authentic excitement of the birth of art - again and again. And a well-known maxim is that with each performance the work is revived and acquires new nuances of the current mood. There was a spark tonight. Maestro Kozhuharov was also the generator and the inspirer.
The great sound of the orchestra with concertmaster Vanya Zlateva, professional and balanced sounding piano parts - performed by Iliana Todorova / "Pahita" /, Daria Krasteva and Nina Reichel / "Carmina Burana" /, great soloists who managed to skillfully understand the same messages of "Carmina Burana", a wonderful performance of the ballet troupe - both as technical performance and as asynchrony and emotion conveyed to the audience, wonderfully formed choral parts - the choir is the main "actor" in the famous stage cantata. In the ballet variations on the stage shone the soloists Ivanina Ivanova, Teodor Tsakov, as well as: Daniela Turtumanova-Stoyanova, Yana Berduta, Natalie Ivanova, Iva Ovcharova, Polina Ivanova, Laya Ramon, Sabina Koseva, Ivana Fialkovska, Nikol Marenova, Maria Gabarova Helen Giovanelli, Gergana Georgieva, Raya Chakarova, Elena Georgieva.
The premiere of "Pahita" was on July 25 on the stage of the Summer Theater. The performance was nominated and won the prize for "Event of the Month" in the ranking of the show for classical music and jazz "Eternal Music" on BNT, with author and host Mario Nikolov. "Paquita" also participates in the annual ranking for "Musical Event of the Year" of "Eternal Music".
The other highlight tonight on the Opera stage was the majestic cantata "Carmina Burana" by Carl Orff. Performed by the artists of the Burgas Opera, the work once again showed its power - as a philosophical depth and interpretation of eternal life issues and dilemmas. "Carmina Burana" presented the polyphonic ideas, in which music, dance, and original scenography were symbiotically intertwined. The leitmotif "Oh, Fortuna!" was the semantic frame of the cantata - symbolically turning the wheel of Destiny.
The technical support of the two productions was also impressive - visual and special effects, costumes, props, make-up, sound, and overall aesthetic appearance.
The verses of medieval poets - troubadours, sounded in "Carmina Burana", were presented by the magnificent soloists - soprano Maria Tsvetkova-Madzharova, countertenor Dimitar Arnaudov and Alexander the baritone Krunev. The difficulty of the parties and the three soloists surpasses the conventional perception. The soloists overcame - with passion and desire, and this challenge. The staging with an impressive philosophical interpretation is by Darina Glavanakova-Bakardzhieva, the assistant director is Lina Peeva. And in the role of Destiny was the respectful Yana Berduta, the soloist in the stage cantata was the Prime Minister-ballet dancer Daniel Tichkov. The large-scale performance was also attended by the artistic groups of people - with conductor Nevena Mihaylova, and the ballet - with tutor Galina Kalcheva.
At the end of the two successful performances, the traditional flower basket was presented on behalf of Mayor Dimitar Nikolov - as a sign of respect for the work and dedication of the artists. For the second month in a row, the audience, despite the difficulties and the imposed health requirements, has not stopped supporting their favorite performers - admiration for all those present, who experienced the messages of art tonight!
