The second impressive performance of the evening, also under the exclusive baton of conductor Maestro Ivan Kozhuharov, was the stage cantata "Carmina Burana" by Karl Orff.
The verses of medieval poets, which served as the basis of the cantata, sounding surprisingly relevant, were performed by magnificent soloists: soprano Maria Tsvetkova-Madzharova, countertenor Dimitar Arnaudov, and baritone Valeri Turmanov. Soloists of the ballet troupe in "Carmina Burana" were the wonderful Yana Berduta - in the role of Fate, and the prime minister-ballet dancer Daniel Tichkov. The artistic choristers of the Burgas Opera, conducted by Nevena Mihaylova, also had a dense sound and a brilliant artistic presence in the original stage-semantic compositions.
Admirations also to the orchestra members with concertmaster Vanya Zlateva, who performed the complex technical scores with professionalism, maturity, precision, and scope.
The cantata "Carmina Burana" once again presented its powerful impact - as a search for answers to the eternal dilemmas of life, as an influential musical score, choral parts, and original choreographic solutions. The leitmotif "Oh, Fortune!" - the semantic frame of the cantata, symbolically turns the wheel of Destiny, foretelling love and pleasure, disappointments and new hope ...
Congratulations for the professional provision of the overall vision and sound of the two performances deserve congratulations to all professionals "behind the scenes" - accompanists, stage workers, specialists in wardrobe, props, lighting, makeup and wigs, subtitles, prompters, and more.
