14 july 2024 Fine Musical Cocktail With "Summertime" On Sunday

Sunday summer evening, light seaside breeze, refined music, and nostalgic mood of the wave of romance - all lovely concepts were combined in one concert program of the Burgas State Opera - SUMMERTIME in the open space of the Flora Burgas Exhibition Center.
The wonderful professionals: soprano Nona Krastnikova, baritone Valeri Turmanov, pianist Mira Iskarova, and Angel Srebchev, trumpet, led the audience in an exciting musical narrative presenting the characteristic metamorphoses of love – dreamed, denied, lost, reborn.
The host of the concert was Nona Krastnikova, who skillfully made a meaningful emotional connection between the musical performances with thematically selected announcements - with intelligent unobtrusiveness
The concert performance "Summertime" was an emotional encounter with excerpts from famous musicals. The concert featured excerpts from: "The Phantom of the Opera" and "Cats" by Andrew Lloyd Webber, "West Side Story" by Leonard Bernstein, "The Man of La Mancha" by Dale Wasserman, "The Wizard of Oz" by Harold Arlen/, as well as iconic works of George Gershwin - "Summertime", a duet of Porgy and Bess from the opera of the same name; famous and beloved songs performed by Frank Sinatra - "My Way" and others; "Love Me Tender" by Elvis Presley, "I Want To Spend My Lifetime Loving You" by James Horner - the song from the hit movie title "The Mask of Zorro" and more.
The emblematic "Summertime", which has become a jazz standard, was the coda of the exciting musical evening, performed by the two soloists, Mira Iskarova and the irreplaceable jazz sound of the trumpet - performed by Angel Srebchev.
In the performance announcement, Nona Krastnikova jokingly explained that, in principle, "Porgy and Bess" by Gershwin has long been accepted to be performed only by African Americans, but tonight an exception is made.
And it was delightful.
A wine greeting was prepared for the event guests - as a compliment to the State Opera - Burgas.
