13 december 2021 Great Mood With "The Barber of Seville"
The third performance of "The Barber of Seville" on Saturday night / December 11 / caused not only a high degree of mood - both the audience and the performers themselves, who sincerely enjoyed the comic plot, united by the skillful direction of Assoc. Mr. Alexander Tekeliev.
It was noticeable that the production has accumulated creative inertia with an increasingly influential charge and continues to acquire a more mature appearance.
A sure indication of the high quality of the performance is the smile of the conductor-maestro Ivan Kozhuharov, and it was present on Saturday night!
Admiration for all "involved" in the emotional adventure on the Burgas stage on Saturday night - the magnificent soloists who were a real artistic fury: Ilina Mihailova / guest / - in the role of the wayward charming Rosina. The wonderful soprano sang on the Burgas stage at the premiere performance on October 8 this year, and in a few days, she will sing again on the same stage with maestro Jose Carreras. In her incarnation in the comic opera by Rossini, Ilina Mihailova presented herself with her characteristic ease in interpreting complex vocal passages, giving the image extreme lightness, giving it an authentic mood, personal charm, and finesse. Alexander Krunev was brilliant again - both vocally, and as a stage presence, and as a combination of the image in the overall design and interaction with other characters, in the role of Figaro, but in the role of Elvis Presley and the style of the 70s of XX century. The baritone was in the role of the most famous barber in the opera and the second premiere - on October 26 this year in the Opera Hall. The lyric-spinto tenor Nikolay Motsov / guest / entered for the third time - colorful, emotionally impactful, and enriched with new artistic nuances, in the role of Count / Sheikh / Almaviva. The tenor expands the parameters of the complex humorous image with inventions that fit into the overall concept of the production and are welcomed by the audience, eager for fun originality. Bassist Kostadin Mechkov also successfully performed for the third time in the role of the annoying Dr. Bartolo, whose insidious plans are thwarted by the friendly association of Figaro, Rosina, Bertha, and everyone involved in the super-funny storyline. With each passing performance, the bass adds new nuances to the role, which is key in the overall development and requires serious vocal and artistic capacity. Bassist Diman Panchev again provoked an explosion of emotions and sincere laughter with the image of Don Basilio - brilliantly presented the intriguing attitudes and consequences of a masterfully invented and worked out in society slander. Kalina Popova, mezzo-soprano, made a brilliant debut as Bertha and the seductive femininity of the image. Baritone Branimir Nedkov once again performed whirlwind artistically and brightly in the roles of Fiorello and the Officer - after the successful debut of the second prime minister. Admiration was also deserved by all choristers / with conductor Nevena Mihaylova /, each of whom had an individual artistic task, the wonderful orchestra - under the baton of maestro Kozhuharov. Applause is also for all the specialists from the technical services, who provided the perfect provision of the performance - the innovative scenography and unusual colorful costumes - the work of Denis Ivanov, for Mira Iskarova and Daria Krasteva, who performed piano recitatives, for assistant directors - Pet Tiholov, as well as Srebrina Slavova, who takes care of the subtitles, Dora Fartunova - responsible for props and prompter, wardrobes, make-up artist and hairdresser - Kalina Popova. The whole team, having gathered their energy charge in a homogeneous whole, again caused sincere surprise and admiration among those present.
Of course, there was also a beautiful addition to the colorful mood and colorful stage design - the traditional flower basket on behalf of Mayor Dimitar Nikolov.
A fresh, daring, sympathetically provocative, and provocatively innovative show once again threw down the gauntlet to the audience - opening sensitive contemporary topics in a non-standard reading with a touch of social satire with psychological nuances - in the rhythm of "steps of time" ...
And a positive sign that did not go unnoticed - there were many young people in the audience - a sure indication that the production meets the expectations and tastes of a generation that obviously needs art, presented in a different way ...
