12 december 2022 Great Mood With "Canzonets And Opera Pearls"
Winter began to remind itself more and more. In contrast to the cold realities outside, tonight in the sophisticated space of the lobby of the Burgas State Opera, it was warm - not only literally, but also to an emotional degree.
After the great success of the two concerts in chamber format in the lobby of the Burgas Cultural Institute, which is shaping up to become a preferred place for similar events - the presentation of Prof. Boryana Lambreva's book about Prof. Pavel Gerdzhikov and the concert of his students, soloists of the Burgas opera, as well as "An Evening of French Music" / Iliana Todorova played the piano at both events/, today it was subject to the southern temperament - with the concert CANSONETS AND OPERA PEARLS.
The lobby of the Opera House was full - again.
The atmosphere was saturated with a festive mood, and the joy of those present was overflowing - from very small children to ladies and gentlemen of a respectable age.
The two soloists had an intelligent and charismatic presence - the young tenor Andreya Mirchev, who has only recently joined the State Opera - Burgas, but already makes a serious request for a brilliant stage future and the well-known young baritone Branimir Nedkov.
The fact that the third soloist of the trio - the tenor Yani Nikolov, fell ill at the last moment before the concert and was unable to participate, did not prevent the two opera singers and the pianist Iliana Todorova from putting together the program in an optimal form and adapting it - instead of a trio, for the duo.
It worked.
Because in such moments not only resourcefulness was shown, but also spirit.
Andreya Mirchev played the role of a charming and entertaining host of the concert evening, who not only announced the performances but also managed to create casual contact with the audience - responsive and enthusiastic.
The two of them with Branimir Nedkov, under the magnificent, balanced sounding piano accompaniment of Iliana Todorova, who once again showed the highest level of accompanist skill, created a real vocal feast, also colored with the nuances of artistic etudes - played with a lot of mood and finesse.
The adapted program of the concert sounded:
"Figaro's Aria", "Count Almaviva's Aria" and "Figaro and Count Almaviva Duet" from the opera "The Barber of Seville" by Gioacchino Rossini;
"Granada",
"Ti voglio tanto bene",
"Core'ngrato",
"Nonti scordar",
"Amapola",
"Marechiare",
A duet from the opera "Elixir of Love" by Gaetano Donizetti and - as an expected bravura finale - "O, sole Mio".
Both performers and audience were in the whirlwind of what art exists for - the mutual exchange of energy and energizing emotion!
The event was honored with the traditional basket of flowers on behalf of the Mayor of Burgas Municipality, Dimitar Nikolov.
