30 september 2020 Great Success for "Beautiful Elena" in the Opera Hall
Soloists, orchestra, choir, and ballet of the State Opera - Burgas created a great mood on the rainy evening of September 29 with the comic opera by Jacques Offenbach "The Beautiful Elena".
Magnificent emotion, invigorating and warming, arose from the performers, who once again proved that even in times of challenge for artists, as well as for all spheres of public life, they manage to preserve and convey to the audience the main message - for the irreplaceable meaning and place of music in the fabric of life - to make it more meaningful, beautiful and bearable ...
Those present at the Opera Hall last night fully felt this idea, transmitted through the means of music and performing arts - they felt for two and a half hours beyond all the pragmatic difficulties of the "outside world".
After the flattering feedback of the audience of "Pretty Elena" at the closing of the Burgas musical festival "Emil Chakarov" - on August 25, on the stage of the Summer Theater and the successful debut in the roles of most performers, they have now confirmed their high level of performing arts. , as well as defended the qualities of the production, characterized by dynamics, innovative techniques, elements of references to modernity, and intelligent humor.
In the image of the Beautiful Helen, the queen of Sparta and the wife of Menelaus, the mezzo-soprano Ioana Kadiyska reincarnated again, stable, charismatic, precise. The stage presence of the young tenor Yani Nikolov as Paris, son of the king of Troy Priam, was also strong. The baritone Yordan Hristozov was Menelaus, king of Sparta, building the grotesque image of the deceived husband with ease, causing sincere laughter in those present.
In ancient times from the beginning of the Trojan War we were carried by other main characters: in the role of Mercury, the god-messenger, was Miroslav Dimitrov, Kalina Popova, Lina Peeva introduces herself as Venus, the goddess of love, Polina Bahchevanova as Minerva, goddess of wisdom, science, crafts, and war. In the role of Kalhas, the high priest of Zeus, was the bass Diman Panchev, Branimir Nedkov, baritone, was Agamemnon, King of Kings. The party of the soprano Maria Tsvetkova-Madzharova, unusual for her role, belonged to Orestes, son of Agamemnon. The bass Kostadin Mechkov introduces himself as Achilles, a Thessalian hero, king of Phthiotis, Milen Dinolov and Lyubomir Todorov were Ajax I and Ajax II, Nikolai Nikolov - Philocom, a servant of Kalhas, and Stefka Hristozova, a servant of Elena.
At the usual high level were the artistic ensembles of the orchestra, choir and ballet of the Burgas Opera / choirmaster - Nevena Mihailova, ballet tutor - Galina Kalcheva /.
The young conductor Tsanislav Petkov once again had the necessary and well-deserved self-confidence behind the counter, as he managed to cope brilliantly with his creative task again, and under unusual circumstances - the orchestra /with concertmaster Yordan Kovachev / for the first time indoors / as in the Summer Theater during the Burgas Musical Festival / was located outside the orchestra, due to the required distance. Despite the unusual configuration, the sound in the hall was balanced and this did not interfere with the overall quality of the show.
Once again, the audience appreciated the merits of the directing of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alexander Tekeliev / assistant director - Petar Tiholov /, the scenography of Boris Stoynov, the magnificent costumes of Tsvetanka Petkova-Stoynova, the choreography — Grisha Roglev.
