19 december 2022 Haydn and Mozart Are Played At the Christmas Concert

On the eve of Christmas, a unifying symbol of human aspirations for a better and more harmonious world, in which there is sharing between people, more trust, warmth, and understanding, State Opera - Burgas has prepared a wonderful musical and aesthetic surprise - a large-scale Christmas concert with the participation of soloists, orchestra and choir - on December 22, Wednesday, at 7 p.m. in the hall of the Burgas Opera House.

The program includes works by the representatives of the Viennese classical school, Joseph Haydn and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, united in a common design, subordinated to the universal mood, which is generated by the holiness of the upcoming Christmas holiday.

Accompanied by the orchestra of the Burgas Opera, with conductor Maestro Yordan Dafov and concertmaster Hristo Belchev, the soloists will appear on the festive stage: cellist Atanas Krastev, soprano Maria Tsvetkova-Madjarova, Kalina Popova, mezzo-soprano, tenor Yani Nikolov and Kostadin Mechkow, bass Chorus artists from the choir of the State Opera - Burgas with conductor Nevena Mihaylova, as well as young talents from the Children's Choir "Milka Stoeva" with conductor Svetla Stoeva, will take part in the program. "Milka Stoeva" Choir is the bearer of the traditions of a long-standing choir school, with magnificent national and international performances and prestigious awards over the years. Just a few days ago, the young choir singers took part in the performance of the opera "Tosca" by Giacomo Puccini on the stage of the Opera House.

In the musical-stage extravaganza on December 22, the soloists and choral formations will create the festive chords of the Christmas concert and will convey to the audience the charge generated by contact with art, which is an invaluable Christmas gift.

Behind the conductor's desk stands the doyen maestro Yordan Dafov, winner of the "Golden Age" award of the Ministry of Culture. The talented and respected conductor is among the distinguished figures honored for their contribution to the development of culture and the affirmation of national identity.

A special guest at the Christmas concert will be the famous young cellist Atanas Krastev, who in about a year will be the soloist of the orchestra of the Burgas Opera for the third time. The great Bulgarian cellist, who has performed on the world stage and already holds the title of associate professor Dr. Atanas Krastev, is the winner of 16 first and extraordinary prizes from international competitions in Austria, Spain, the Czech Republic, Serbia, and Bulgaria.

The festive program of the Christmas concert will include an Overture from the opera "The Abduction from Saraya" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Concerto for cello and orchestra No. 1 in C major by Joseph Haydn, and Mass "Nelson" - for soloists, choir, and orchestra by Haydn.
