For fans of the ballet, a new exciting encounter awaits with the masterpiece "Sleeping Beauty" to the immortal music of P. I. Tchaikovsky and the brilliant direction of Prof. Hikmet Mehmedov. On Monday evening - March 18, from 7 p.m., the enchanting show will bring charm, style, class, and a fairy-tale atmosphere to the hall of the State Opera - Burgas. Visitors will witness the stage presentation of the beloved magical tale, told through the medium of fine ballet art.

The Burgas audience and guests of the city will have the privilege of seeing Margarita Cheromukhina, prima ballerina of the National Opera and Ballet of the Republic of Serbia, who appears on the stage in the image of Princess Aurora - bewitched by the evil fairy Karabos, she falls into a deep long sleep, and from the Prince frees Desiree. Participation in the performance is an award for a tour of the Burgas stage, presented by the director of the State Opera - Burgas - Assoc. Dr. Alexander Tekeliev at the First International Ballet Competition "Sara-Nora Prima" - Burgas / July 1-9, 2023 in the hall of the Burgas Opera. Margarita Cheromukhina has been a member of the ballet ensemble of the National Theater in Belgrade since 2013 and is currently the first soloist of the National Theater ensemble. The role of Prince Désire is played by the charismatic premier ballet dancer of the Sofia Opera and Ballet and the Burgas Opera - Emil Yordanov, who perfectly matches the character's appearance and demeanor.

"Sleeping Beauty" is a large-scale ballet project, impressive with the creative scope of the directorial decisions of Prof. Hikmet Mehmedov and its complete aesthetic appearance. The performance introduces the world of an enchanted princess, noble fairies, an evil ogre with a severe wound, a handsome prince with a kind and brave heart, magic, an extravaganza of colors, movements, emotions, and beautiful details, sculpting a true fairy tale reality. The ballet was created on the plot of one of the most popular fairy tales of Charles Perrault, the ingenious music that has gained popularity and as an independent sounding of individual parts of the work is by PI Tchaikovsky.

The Sleeping Beauty is Tchaikovsky's longest ballet - its original duration is about four hours. Prof. Hikmet Mehmedov's interpretation preserves the final quadrille in which the characters from Perrault's fairy tales dance - Puss in Boots, Blue Bird, Little Red Riding Hood, and others.

The choreography of "Sleeping Beauty" is by Marius Petipa and Prof. Hikmet Mehmedov. The staging and directorial work, the work of Professor Mehmedov, is impressive with its artistic perfectionism and creative flight of thought, transporting the audience to fabulous dimensions, where aesthetics and exquisite expressiveness reign - of movements embodying conceptual beauty. The sets, adapted to the demands of a similar scale of the unfolding of the action, are by set designer Ivan Tokadjiev, whose style is often described as close to that of Salvador Dali. The designer of the costumes is the costume designer Tsvetanka Petkova-Stoynova, who received an award from the "Association of Choreographers" for her creative work in "Sleeping Beauty". The number of costumes in the play is over eighty. They are completely handcrafted, with the ladies' dresses encrusted with thousands of Swarovski crystals, each one hand-applied to create the exquisite overall look of the fabulous stage costumes.

Tutor of the ballet troupe of the State Opera - Burgas - Galina Kalcheva, who was on stage at the premiere, which took place on May 4, 2017, in the role of Feya Lyulyak.

Bright, colorful, with an aristocratic glow are all the images that will create magic on the stage of the Burgas evening on Monday.

Nathalie Ivanova takes the stage as Karabos, the fairy who casts a spell on Princess Aurora to sleep without memory. Maria Gabarova will play the role of the Queen on the Burgas stage, and Francesco Pio Russo will play King Florestan. The rest of the magical creatures also have a gentle enchanting fairytale presence on the stage: the Fairy of Tenderness - Raphaela-Maria Kuhl, the Fairy of Fertility - Nanako Sato, the Fairy of Generosity - Ilina Konstantinova, the Fairy of Carefreeness - Kalina Nedelcheva, the Fairy of Courage - Laya Ramon.

The male presence in the ballet "Sleeping Beauty", filled with fairy tales, is no less colorful. Cavaliers will be: Daniel Tichkov, Teodor Tsakov, Kiril Filipov, and Stoyan Furtunov; the premier ballet dancer Daniel Tichkov is in the role of the Blue Bird, together with the soloist of the ballet troupe Daniela Turtumanova-Stoyanova; Page will be Kircho Zhelyazkov.

Kiril Filipov also plays the role of the Wolf, along with Kalina Nedelcheva /Red Riding Hood/. In the scene "Puss in Boots" Raphaela-Maria Kuhl and Teodor Tsakov take part. Branimir Nedkov takes the stage on Monday as the master of ceremonies Katalabut.

Maids of honor will be: Ivana Fialkovska, Kalina Nedelcheva, Nanako Sato, and Rafaela-Maria Kuhl; Maids of honor: Laya Ramon, Ilina Konstantinova, Gergana Georgieva, and Alexandrina Arabska.
