After the successful, albeit unusual - due to the objective atmosphere, summer season, which was closed with the comic opera from Offenbach "Pretty Elena", on the stage of the Summer Theater, State Opera - Burgas opens Season 2020/2021 - on September 17, from 7 pm, at the Opera Hall, with an attractive concert presenting masterpieces of the Viennese classics Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven, entitled "Viennese Classics". The concert is dedicated to the 250th anniversary of the birth of the great composer Ludwig van Beethoven, a representative of the Vienna School, along with other colossi in the music of his time - Josef Haydn and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The Viennese classic is an important figure in the period that is considered a transition between classicism and romanticism. Beethoven is considered one of the greatest composers in the history of world music heritage, he is characterized by extreme levels of drama, heroism, emotional amplitudes, and inimitable saturation of the sensory charge invested in the compositions.

The program of the concert "Viennese Classics", united ideologically in the framework of Viennese classicism, bearing the characteristics of European style, aristocratic attitude to the world, and beautiful musical expression will sound: Symphony in B flat major №85 "The Queen" Hob I / 85 by Josef Haydn, Coronation Mass for soloists, choir and orchestra in C major by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Fantasia for piano, choir and orchestra in C minor, opus 80 by Ludwig van Beethoven. Behind the conductor's desk will be maestro Yordan Dafov, who turned 80 this year, but continues to be extremely energetic, precise, and inspiring the orchestra and the audience with his refined individual view of the scores and personal charisma that unites musical ideas and weaves them into a single aesthetic suggestion.

In the concert "Vienna Classics" the beauty and influential power of their talents will be woven by the soloists: Rada Chomakova - piano, Joana Zhelezcheva - soprano, Joana Kadiyska - mezzo-soprano, Yani Nikolov - tenor, Kostadin Mechkov - bass. The ensembles of the orchestra and choir of the State Opera - Burgas take part in the impressive program. Conductor of the choirs is Nevena Mihaylova, concertmaster - Vanya Zlateva.

For the conductor Yordan Dafov:

One of the most emblematic representatives of the modern Bulgarian conducting school, known as a conductor with high musical culture and respected for his unique conducting technique.

He graduated from the Bulgarian State Conservatory in Sofia in the class of Prof. Konstantin Iliev. From 1970 to 1971, as a young conductor, he took a master class in analysis, composition, and aesthetics with Prof. Olivier Messaye at the Paris National Conservatory. In 1966 he began as a conductor of the Varna Philharmonic. In 1977 he was artistic director and chief conductor of the Burgas Philharmonic. At the beginning of 1981, he became the conductor of the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, and at the same time, he was chief conductor of the Tolbuhin Chamber Orchestra, which under his skillful baton managed to win the name of one of the best chamber ensembles in Bulgaria. From 1997 to 1999 he was artistic director and chief conductor of the Varna Philharmonic. Meanwhile, Maestro Dafov leads a master class with H. Faberman (USA). From November 2000 to May 2002 he was director and conductor of the Sofia Philharmonic. Known as a conductor in France, Italy, Russia, Switzerland, Romania, Spain, Poland, Hungary. He makes recordings for BNT and BNR, as well as for French and Swedish radio and Spanish television. He is the author of three symphonies, "Morning Music and Serenades" (for string orchestra), "In profile and full-face" (for large symphony orchestra), vocal music for instrumental chamber ensembles, theater music.
 
For the soloists:

Rada Chomakova graduated piano in Sofia at the Music Academy under Prof. Lyuba Obretenova. He did a one-year specialization in Moscow at the Gnesini Institute. Since 1970 he has been working as a piano teacher at the Music High School in Burgas. Her students have won more than 200 awards at competitions in Bulgaria and in Europe. Chomakova has an active concert activity as a soloist of orchestras, as a soloist and chamber musician. She has been a soloist in all Bulgarian orchestras, she has played in Poland, Romania, Russia, Italy, Germany, Hungary. He has 40 piano concertos in his repertoire. She has presented a complete integral of 32 Beethoven Sonatas, 10 Beethoven Sonatas for Piano and Violin, Brahms, Frank, Ravel, Debussy, Schubert, Schumann and others. Her repertoire includes a huge number of works from baroque to contemporary music. There is a CD with works by Pancho Vladigerov. For 20 years he has been holding a Festival of Russian Piano Music in Burgas. He has won many awards from Bulgarian and international competitions. She was awarded the Golden and Crystal Lyre of the Union of Musicians in Bulgaria. She was also awarded the Golden Muse. She has been awarded many times with the prize for the music of the Municipality of Burgas and the District Administration of Burgas. He is an honorary citizen of the city of Burgas. He leads master classes in Bulgaria and Germany. Member of the jury of competitions in Burgas, Pomorie, Shumen, and Sofia.

Joanna Zhelezcheva, soprano:

Joana Zhelezcheva is one of the few dramatic sopranos in Bulgaria for the last 20 years. Soloist of the State Opera - Burgas for ten years. He completed his secondary education in Shumen, then the State Academy of Music "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov" in Sofia, in the opera singing class of Hristina Angelakova. Completing his master's degree in 2003, he debuted as a mezzo-soprano on the stage of the Sofia Opera in many titles, including "The Wedding of Figaro" by Mozart, "Faust" by Gounod, "Carmen" by Bizet, etc. Meanwhile, he specialized in masterclasses with Alexandrina Milcheva, Anna Tomova-Sintova. Laureate of international and national competitions - "Hristo Brambarov" - 1st prize, "Gena Dimitrova" - 2nd prize, "Puldin" - special prize. Since 2008 is a permanent member of the soloists of the State Opera - Burgas, where he performs his best and most important roles, the first of which is Amelia in "Ball with Masks" by Verdi, and this is her debut as a soprano on the opera stage. Followed by Butterfly from Puccini's opera of the same name, Manon from Puccini's "Manon Lescaut", Liu from Puccini's "Turandot", Santuzza from Mascani's "Village Honor", Lady Macbeth from Verdi's "Macbeth", Aida from Verdi, Leonora from " Troubadour "by Verdi," Norma "by Bellini. Her partners on stage were Darina Takova, Orlin Anastasov, Leo Nuchi, Salvatore Fisichella, and the best mezzo-soprano in the world at the moment - Anita Rachvelishvili. Ioanna Kadiyska, mezzo-soprano:

Joanna Kadiyska began her musical career as a soloist of the Children's Radio Choir at the Bulgarian National Radio, with conductor Acad. Hristo Nedyalkov. There she was noticed by the great opera prima Alexandrina Milcheva, who became her vocal pedagogue.

Graduated in opera singing at the National Music Academy "P. Vladigerov ”, in the class of Prof. Svilen Raichev and in 2015 received his master's degree in classical singing. He is currently a PhD student at the Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music.

In 2011 he won the second prize at the XVI International Youth Music Festival-Competition, Dobrich-Albena, "Hopes, Talent Masters". Two years later, in 2013, he won a scholarship from the Boris Hristov Foundation for the Opera Studio at the National Academy of Santa Cecilia - Rome, where he specialized with Senor Renata Scoto, vocal pedagogue Anna Wendy and maestro Cesare Scarton.

Among her achievements are also: II prize of the XXIV National Competition for Young Instrumentalists and Singers "Svetoslav Obretenov"; an audience award and an award for the best interpretation of a Bulgarian musical work at the International Opera Singing Competition "The Rose of Evterpa in Karlovo"; III prize at the Second International Competition for Opera Singers "Elena Nikolai"; Second prize at the 10th Franz Schubert International Competition and finalist at the International Vocal Competition, Zdar nad Sazavou, Czech Republic.

Over the years he has attended various master classes for vocal and stage skills and work on the interpretation of operas by a number of prominent pedagogues and artists with international recognition, including - Darina Takova, Anna Tomova - Sintova, Carlo Colombara, Fiorenza Kosoto, Bruna Balioni, Larisa Gergieva and others.

In 2018 he became a scholarship holder of the Raina Kabaivanska Foundation and continued his studies in Modena, Italy.

He made his debut on the stage of DMBC "St. Makedonski ”, with the role of Elena in the production“ The Beautiful Elena ”by Jacques Offenbach, directed by Mario Nikolov, under the direction of Yuli Damyanov. Among her creative performances on stage are also:

 the role of Dorabella in "Cosi fan Tutte" by VA Mozart, on the stage of the Burgas Opera - director Alexander Tekeliev and conductor Ivaylo Krinchev;

 the role of Cerlina in "Don Juan" by WA Mozart, on the stage of the Burgas Opera - director Alexander Tekeliev and conductor Rafael Feye;

Yani Nikolov, tenor:

A graduate of NUMSI "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov" in Burgas, majoring in clarinet. Winner of numerous awards in the country and abroad. Since 2009, a student at the National Music Academy "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov" - Sofia, majoring in classical singing, in the class of Maria Belcheva. He was noticed as a student and the first roles were not late. He made his debut on the stage of the Sofia Opera and Ballet, in student projects of academician Plamen Kartalov. Participant in many master classes of world singers and musicians such as: Carlo Colombara, Roberto Skandyutsi, Luciana Dintino, Christian Benedict, Richard Barker, Darina Takova, Orlin Anastasov, Emil Ivanov, Katya Borisova, Ivan Konsulov, and others.

Participant in opera festivals and concerts in Bulgaria, Greece, Austria, Romania, and Switzerland. Among the most prestigious among them are Bulgaria Hall with the Sofia Philharmonic, Hall 1 of the National Palace of Culture with the Bucharest Philharmonic. Guest performer at the European Parliament in Brussels, on the occasion of the national holiday of Bulgaria, under the patronage of the Bulgarian government.

Kostadin Mechkov, bass:

He graduated from the vocal faculty of NMA "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov ”with classical singing in the class of Prof. Ilka Popova. Before and after graduation he received awards from national and international competitions - first prize in the competition "Svetoslav Obretenov", third prize in the International Competition for Young Opera Performers "Elena Nikolai". He made his debut on the stage of the State Opera - Varna in "The Barber of Seville" in 2010, and during the same stage he played the role of Colin in "Bohemia" at the Sofia Opera and Ballet. A frequent guest of the Sofia Opera and Ballet, Sofia Philharmonic, opera houses in Varna, Stara Zagora, Plovdiv, and Burgas. He has performed on foreign opera stages such as the Auditorio Nacional in Madrid and the Bunka Kaikan in Tokyo. Participant in the master classes of Raina Kabaivanska in the period 2010-2016. For three consecutive years, she won scholarships to study in Siena and Modena, Italy. Participates in the concert "Stars of the Opera" at the National Palace of Culture, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Raina Kabaivanska.
