27 march 2023 Opera Celebrates The 150th Anniversary of Rachmaninov's Birth
Exactly on the day when the great composer, pianist, and conductor, a bright representative of late Russian romanticism - Sergei Rachmaninoff, was born 150 years ago - April 1st, Saturday, the Burgas Opera has prepared a concert of his works - "Rachmaninov's vocal work ", performed by soloists of the seaside cultural institute. The Russian-born composer, who died on March 28, 1943, in the United States, was perceived as a penetrating painter of pastoral nature paintings and a skilled psychologist, peering into the mysteries of the soul. In his work, strongly influenced by his idol P.I. Tchaikovsky and the composers of the "Mighty Five" /Balakirev, Borodin, Cui, Mussorgsky, Rimsky-Korsakov/, passionate impulses and poetic contemplation coexist in a charming symbiosis, the dark shades of tragedy and the life-affirming pathos. In Rachmaninoff's music, polyphonic melodies are skillfully combined, which carry an overall impression and sculpt a unified beauty of form and perception.
On Saturday evening, from 7 p.m., in the lobby of the Burgas Opera, which hosted several chamber events that filled the cozy space to the limit, there will be an opportunity to immerse yourself in the refined atmosphere of Sergei Rachmaninov's work - through his vocal works.
The soloists of the Burgas Opera: sopranos Yoana Zhelezcheva, Lyudmila Mihailova, Maria Tsvetkova-Madjarova, Nona Krastnikova and Shmilena Sultanova, mezzo-soprano Daniela Dyakova, tenor Yani Nikolov. The baritones Valeri Turmanov and Yordan Hristozov, the basses Diman Panchev and Kostadin Mechkov, under the piano accompaniment of the pianist Iliana Todorova, will give those present moments of contact with the beautiful nostalgia of Rachmaninov's vocal work.
The program of the concert "Rachmaninov's Vocal Music" will include: "Twilight", "I'm waiting for you", "She, how polden horosha", "Vocalize", "Don't sing, beauty", O. no, please. I'm leaving!", "Child! How beautiful, beautiful", "Morning", "In silent nights", "Aleko", "U vrat obitelii svatoi", "Morning", "Son", "Ya opatija odinok" and others.
