The eternal story of seduction trampled hopes, intrigues, curses, and sinister denouement, woven into the libretto of one of the most famous and beloved operas by Giuseppe Verdi - "Rigoletto", will come to life on the stage of the Burgas Opera on February 17, Wednesday, from 19 hours. The musical story of the hunchbacked jester Rigoletto, the only joy in his simple life - his beautiful daughter Gilda, the Duke, a unifying image of meanness, insidious plans, and lack of conscience, as well as all involved in this tragic tale, will be an occasion for diverse experiences. during the performance - from admiration for the power of naive love, which is trampled by someone's insensitivity, to the tragic hopelessness of the suppressed pure impulses.

Through the means of musical-theatrical art, the heartbreaking and invariably provoking strong emotions story will be told by a magnificent creative and artistic ensemble. The conductor is the young Tsanislav Petkov - this is his debut in conducting Verdi's score, the direction, which relies on the complex relationships between the actors and deep psychology, is by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alexander Tekeliev, the artist is Ivan Popov, conductor of the choir, who is an important participant in the overall action is Nevena Mihaiyova, concertmaster - Yordan Kovachev, assistant director - Peter Tiholov. The subtitles, which allow the audience to fully follow what is happening on stage, are the work of Srebrina Slavova.

The soloist of the State Opera - Burgas Maria Tsvetkova-Madjarova, soprano, will incarnate in the naive girl Gilda, living in her small world, built of dreaminess, which has no connection with reality and meeting a skilled seducer, falls into his demonic trap, which foretells her certain doom. The contradictory image of the jester Rigoletto will be recreated by the baritone Alexander Krunev - for him, this is a crowning role, repeatedly presented with success. The tenor Daniel Damyanov enters the image of the Duke of Mantua, the smug seducer and bon vivant, operated on by conscience.

The bass Diman Panchev will be in the role of the robber Sparafuchile, Lina Peeva will play Madalena, Sparafuchile's sister, Kalina Popova will be Giovanna, Count Monterone - Kostadin Mechkov, Count Cheprano - Delyan Slavov, Countess Cheprano - Shmilena Sultanimi, Marulo Nedkov, Mateo Borsa - Lyubomir Todorov, Page - Aglika Petrova. The ensembles of the orchestra and people of the State Opera - Burgas take part in the production.

The libretto of Verdi's famous Rigoletto is by Francesco Maria Piave, based on Victor Hugo's play Le Roi s`amuse / The King Has Fun / Verdi became so engrossed in writing the opera that he only managed to finish it in 40 days. The original name of the opera, The Curse, was later changed several times. Due to censorship, some changes in the libretto are required, with an emphasis on the inner drama of the characters. La donna è mobile is one of the most famous and often performed opera arias in the world - the song of the Duke of Mantua in the third, last act of "Rigoletto". Translated, the title means "Woman is changeable / windy / fickle."

His debut in a central role was as a student in the role of Georges Germont in the opera "La Traviata", staged by the State Opera - Plovdiv. Since then, his repertoire has grown by seventy roles. Audiences know him as Rigoletto, Nabucco, and Falstaff from the operas of the same name, as well as Iago in Othello, Count di Luna in The Troubadour, Renato in The Masked Ball, Marquis Pose in Don Carlos, Don Carlo in "Hernani", don Carlo in "The Power of Fate" by Verdi, in Puccini's operas - Baron Scarpia in "Tosca", Sharples in "Madame Butterfly", Ping in "Turandot", Lesko in "Manon Lesko", Marcel in " Bohemia, his repertoire in Rossini's operas includes Figaro in The Barber of Seville, Tadeo in The Italian in Algeria; in Leoncavallo's opera Clowns he also played the roles of Tonio and Silvio. Daniel Damyanov, tenor, graduated in Orthodox Theology at the University of Veliko Tarnovo "St.St. Cyril and Methodius". He studied opera singing as a private student with Stoyan Kisov and Kostadinka Nikolova. In 2007 he started working as a soloist at the Ruse Opera, participated in opera performances in Sofia, Varna, Burgas, Stara Zagora, Plovdiv. His repertoire includes the parts of Cavaradossi in Tosca; Don Alvaro in The Power of Fate; The Duke in Rigoletto; Calaf in Turandot; Don Jose in Carmen; De Grijo in Manon Lescaut; Radames in Aida; Canio in the Clowns; Manrico in The Troubadour; McDuff in "Macbeth"; "Requiem" by Verdi; Alfredo in La Traviata; Ishmael in Nabucco, Foresto in Attila; Othello in Othello; Don Carlos in Don Carlos.

Tsanislav Petkov is only 31 years old, but has an enviable career as a conductor. Born in Ruse in a family of pianists. He completed his secondary education with a degree in piano at NUMSI "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov ”- Burgas in the class of Julia Nenova. In 2015 he graduated from NMA "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov ”with a degree in opera and symphony conducting in the class of Prof. Plamen Djurov and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Georgi Patrikov. He has conducted many projects as a student, and his debut was as a conductor of the Academic Symphony Orchestra. He was the conductor of the orchestra of the National Musical Theater "Stefan Makedonski" - Sofia.

From the same year until today he is chief artistic director and conductor of the Chamber Orchestra - Haskovo, and since 2017 he is a conductor at the State Opera - Burgas.
