On Saturday evening, April 30, at 7 pm, the visitors of "Sleeping Beauty" in the hall of the Burgas Opera will once again witness the stage performance of the favorite fairy tale, told through the means of ballet.

"Sleeping Beauty" is a large-scale ballet project, impressive with the creative scope of the directorial decisions of Prof. Hikmet Mehmedov and its complete aesthetic appearance. The show introduces the world of an enchanted princess, noble fairies, an evil sorceress with a heavy fate, a handsome prince with a good and brave heart, magic, a spectacle of colors, movements, emotions, and beautiful details that sculpt a true fairy-tale reality. The ballet is based on the plot of one of the most popular tales of Charles Perrault, the music is by PI Tchaikovsky.

"Sleeping Beauty" is Tchaikovsky's longest ballet - its original duration is about four hours. In the interpretation of Prof. Hikmet Mehmedov, the final quadrille is preserved, in which the characters from Pero's fairy tales dance - The Cat in Boots, Thumb, Little Red Riding Hood, and others.

The choreography of "Sleeping Beauty" is based on Marius Petipa and Prof. Hikmet Mehmedov. The production and directing work of Professor Mehmedov is impressive with artistic perfectionism and creative scope, transporting the audience into fairy-tale dimensions, where aesthetics and exquisite expressiveness prevail. The sets, in accordance with the requirements of such a scale of the unfolding of the action, are by the set designer Ivan Tokadjiev, whose style is often defined as close to that of Salvador Dali. The costume designer is the costume designer Tsvetanka Petkova-Stoynova, who received an award of the Association of Choreographers for her creative work in "Sleeping Beauty". The number of costumes in the production is over eighty. They are made entirely by hand, and the women's dresses are embroidered with thousands of Swarovski crystals, each of which is glued by hand to obtain the exquisite overall look of the fabulous stage costumes. The role of the Prince is played by the charismatic prime minister-ballet dancer Emil Yordanov, who is completely consistent in the appearance and posture of the image. Debut in the role of Fairy Lilac makes the young ballerina Emona Georgieva, who recently joined the troupe of the Burgas Opera, but already has successful debuts on the Burgas stage - as Masha in "The Hazelnut Crusher" and the Sister in "Cinderella". On April 26 this year she won the grand prize of the Stoyan Kambarev Foundation - "Stoyan Kambarev Award for Flight in Art".

Like Karabos, the fairy who spells Princess Aurora to a memoryless dream, Natalie Ivanova takes the stage, making her strong debut as a charity show in October 2021. Svetlana Nikolov will see the Burgas audience as King Florestan XIV, Sofia Lovdzhieva will appear on the Burgas stage as the Queen. The other magical creatures also have a tender enchanting fairytale presence on the stage: the Fairy of Tenderness - Anelia Ivanova, the Fairy of Fertility - Elena Georgieva, the Fairy of Generosity - Patricia Soares, the Fairy of Carelessness - Iva Ovcharova. Fairy of Courage - Yana Berduta, who will also be Princess Florina in the Procession of Fairy Tales.

The male presence in the ballet "Sleeping Beauty", full of fairy tales, is no less colorful: Teodor Tsakov is the role of the Blue Bird.
