The Sleeping Beauty is large-scale, ambitious and impressive - as a staging, creative performance, and aesthetic vision, a ballet project that uncovers a world of the enchanted princess, good fairies, a badass with heavy punishment, a prince with a beautiful smile, a kind and brave heart, magic, an extravaganza of colors, motions, emotions and beautiful details that create true fairy-tale reality. The ballet was created based on the story of one of Charles Perot's most beloved children's tales and the immortal music of genius P.I. Tchaikovsky. The prima ballerina of the Sofia Opera and Ballet Vesa Tonova in the image of Princess Aurora, and her colleague Emil Yordanov, who is currently the premier ballet dancer of the Burgas Opera as Prince Desiree. The primate of the Burgas Opera Galina Kalcheva is the fairy Lilac, and Nadezhda Velichkova becomes the evil fairy Karabos. Graduates of ballet classes at the National School of Music and Performing Arts “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov ”- Burgas. The premiere of the magnificent staging of the Burgas stage is May 4, 2017.

The staging work and the choreography, impressing with artistic perfectionism and creative scope, transferring the viewers to fairy-tale dimensions, where the aesthetics and the sense of balance rule, are the work of Professor Hikmet Mehmedov. The decors that meet the requirements of such a scale of action are the set designer Ivan Tokadjiev - an artist whose style is often referred to as that of Salvador Dali. The costume designer is costume designer Tsvetanka Petkova-Stoynova, who receives the Association of Choreographers Association award for her creative work at Sleeping Beauty. The award was established by the Association of the Bulgarian Choreographers Association and is held for the second time in 2018. The event is one of the most important annual events for the dance world in Bulgaria. In 2017, the ballet Swan Lake by music by PI Tchaikovsky, staged by the State Opera - Burgas, with choreographer Prof. Hikmet Mehmedov, became the first winner of the prestigious award. The number of costumes in Sleeping Beauty exceeds eighty as ballet dancers change their outfits during the course of the action. They are made entirely by hand, with women's dresses lined with thousands of Swarovski crystals, each of which is glued by hand to give an exquisite overall look to the fabulous stage costumes.

"Sleeping Beauty" is Tchaikovsky's longest ballet - its original length is about four hours. It is almost always presented in a condensed version. In the interpretation of Prof. Mehmedov, the final dancefloor is preserved, in which the characters from the tales of Perot - The Cat in Boots, the Thumb, the Little Red Riding Hood, and others - dance.

The premiere of the ballet "Sleeping Beauty" is at the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg on January 15, 1890. The production was carefully prepared - with a rich set design, the best soloists of the theater were attracted. From its inception to today, more than a century later, Sleeping Beauty continues to be considered a classic in the repertoire of world theaters.

Prima ballerina Vesa Tonova, who plays the role of Princess Aurora, shares the production: "Directed by Hikmet Mehmedov turns" Sleeping Beauty "into one of the most beautiful and talented productions. The show is built as a" prologue and epilogue. " reading leaves a special sense of good, joy, and hope. I understand what the director wants me to do and with our confidence and respect for the creative beginning, our team becomes very strong. "

The director of the State Opera - Burgas Alexander Tekeliev emphasizes that "in those times people were thirsty for the fairy-tale fantasies of aristocratic classicism."

In the production of the State Opera - Burgas you will see a magical vision, which, like in a crystal ball with snowflakes, like those of childhood, will alternate fairy-tale images, in a wonderful and enchanting dance, such as a "pill of kindness and beauty" at a time when fabulous realities are too far from our pragmatic agenda.
