On February 19 at 7:00 PM, in the Opera Hall, for the first time in Burgas, an extraordinary event is coming up, saturated with colorful emotionality, backed up by exceptional professionalism, carrying the charge of southern temperament in the tonality of sensuality - "Piazzolla - the Seasons".
Under the baton of maestro Deyan Pavlov, a frequent and welcome guest on the Burgas stage, beloved musicians distinguished by undeniable class and original talent will perform on the stage of the State Opera - Burgas - the bandoneonist Stoyan Karaivanov - well known to the Burgas audience - from the memorable events "Piazzolla - the Last Concert" - in November 2022 and June 2025, also under the baton of Prof. Deyan Pavlov, as well as "Tango - Classics" - by Fr. "St. Anastasia" in the summer of 2024, and Prof. Tsvetan Nedyalkov - guitar, who is an institution in the field of guitar art.
Together with the orchestra of the State Opera - Burgas, they will present an impressive concert program, in which, analogous to the different seasons, the attendees will go through states of mind, guaranteeing unforgettable aesthetic pleasure.
Astor Piazzolla's music is rich in emotions, carrying a palette of themes, messages, sounds, hypnotizing, touching, burning, nostalgically beautiful, and insanely sensual.
The eminent Bulgarian bandoneonist Stoyan Karaivanov, winner of world awards and concert activity in a number of countries: Austria, Slovakia, Germany, Italy, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus, etc., plays a historical bandoneon Alfred Arnold "semi nacarado" from 1935, which is one of the few instruments preserved in perfect condition. On February 19, under the inspired baton of Prof. Deyan Pavlov and in absolute creative synchrony with Prof. Tsvetan Nedyalkov and the musicians of the Burgas Opera Orchestra with concertmaster Hristo Belchev, he will once again show, in an impressive and convincing manner, the full range of possibilities of the relic instrument – approaching its music-making as a sacred act, like any dedicated artist.
The virtuoso guitarist Prof. Dr. Tsvetan Nedyalkov, who will perform on the stage of the Burgas Opera for the first time with the orchestra of the Burgas Cultural Institute, is the head of the AIP department at the Vocal Faculty of the National Academy of Music "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov" and is an undisputed favorite of both the general and the narrowly specialized audience.
At the concert on Thursday, February 19, the two classy musicians, together with the orchestra of the State Opera – Burgas, will sculpt pictures through music that will be able to sadden, move, elevate the spirit, caress the senses, and awaken the inner voice that leads to enlightenment. The program will feature three works by Astor Piazzolla: “Hommage a Liege” – a double concerto for bandoneon, guitar, and string orchestra, Tristezas de un Doble, and “The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires”.
The musical motifs that will be heard at the concert on Thursday have woven into themselves the charge of the original taste for life, characteristic of South America, as well as the attitude towards the emotional interaction in the dance of a man and a woman, which reflects a universe of feelings, beauty of movements, rhythms in the overtones of passion. Tango is a popular genre in art – it has different directions – tango music, tango poetry, and tango dance. It arose in the second half of the 19th century among the common people in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Montevideo, Uruguay. Over time and with its improvement, it gained a higher social status and immense popularity on several continents. Tango is a philosophy, a specific worldview expressed through body language and a whirlpool of emotions. Maestro Astor Piazzolla is recognized in the history of music as a renewer of Argentine tango, uniquely elevating it from "street music" to music performed in concert halls. According to experts, his work is accessible both to connoisseurs of the classics, who are distinguished by refined taste, and to fans of other musical genres.
