Today the world cultural community celebrates International Ballet Day.
Happy holiday to all who are connected - directly or indirectly, with the exquisite beauty and inspiring emotional power of the art subordinated to the Muse Terpsichore.
The Burgas State Opera could proudly claim that the ballet troupe of the cultural institution is at the highest aesthetic and artistic level, as well as the performances that are staged in Burgas. Most recently, with great success and a hall full of capacity, the premiere performance of the ballet "Giselle" to the music of Adolf Adam, directed and directed by Galina Kalcheva, in the roles of brilliant debuts made Ivanina Ivanova / Giselle /, Polina Ivanova / Mirta / and Teodor Tsakov / Hans /, at the traditionally high level was also the Prime Minister-ballet dancer Emil Yordanov / Albert /.

The decision to establish a day of ballet was made in Sofia in 1982, at a session of UNESCO in Bulgaria. The International Ballet Day is the date of birth of the French ballet master Jean-Georges Nover, who remains in history as the greatest reformer in classical dance. He is considered the "father" of ballet in its present form. Nover was born on April 29, 1727. He is the choreographer who introduces the characteristic positions of the arms and legs, which are still the basis of classical dance. The famous choreographer worked at the Paris Grand Opera and at the London Opera. He has staged over 80 ballets. In 1759 his work "Letters on Dance and Ballets" was published, which laid the foundations of ballet "legislation". In the book, he substantiated the principles of ballet as a performing art, uniting dance, pantomime, music, and fine arts.
