30 march 2024 A Touching Performance Of "La Traviata" On Saturday
On Saturday evening, March 30, when spring finally begins to remind itself, art proved its reviving power, which has the ability every time on stage to build itself again, and again, to live - as an exchange of emotions, to cause a vortex of sensations, feelings and empathy - of a timeless story - of love, sacrifice, redemption and destruction.
And again, each time, in an equally exciting and shattering way, like a filigree oriental mosaic, which is built with extreme patience and dedication, and in one fell swoop ends up in nothingness. To make the next one even more lovely... And to continue the fairy tale. With new energy. And new hope.
Under the baton of the famous conductor Slavil Dimitrov, with the delightful performance of TRAVIATA / LA TRAVIATA - one of the masterpieces of soul master Giuseppe Verdi, presented through the intelligent directorial decisions of Assoc. Dr. Alexander Tekeliev and the original scenography with semiotic elements by Katalin Arborethe, Burgas audience and the guests of the city, who specially visited the Burgas State Opera for the performance, the charming, radiating aristocracy and class Vera Girginova, soloist of the State Opera - Plovdiv, sculpted the controversial tragic image of Violeta Valeri as per a textbook. And as an added value - with her radiance, she conquered not only the minds but also the soul spaces of those present, who empathized with every phrase, message, cry, and hidden feeling - along with the beautiful soprano. She performed what is considered one of the most difficult operatic parts in world music literature with ease, brilliant technique, beautifully and impressively built dynamics in the quiet register when it seemed as if her soul was speaking. And the audience was breathing with her rhythm…
In wonderful stage synchrony with Vera Girginova was the young tenor Andreya Mirchev, who about a year ago made his memorable debut on the same stage in the role of Alfred Germont. He added new nuances and depth to the character building, and as a vocal performance, he was flawless.
The doyen Alexander Krunev - in the role of Alfred's father - Georges Germont, was at his usual height - respectful and at the same time brilliantly presenting the metamorphoses in his soul that led to his transformation.
The charismatic mezzo-soprano Joanna Cadijska - as Flora Bervois, a friend of Violetta Valérie from the upper circles of Paris, was bright, stylish and created a convincing image of a spoiled aristocrat who is not devoid of mercy and empathy.
Brilliant and fitting into the overall picture of the exciting performance were all the other soloists, the musicians of the orchestra, the artists of the choir, and the ballet!
Admirations for maestro Slavil Dimitrov - the orchestra /with concertmaster Hristo Belchev/ achieved an extremely balanced sound, following the dramaturgical line! Applause also for the conductor of the choir Alexander Chepanov - for the excellent presentation of the choir, as well as for Galina Kalcheva - for the wonderful choreography, and Marina Zmeeva-Markova - tutor of the ballet troupe, who entered the spectrum of colors and emotions this evening in a whirlwind the spectacle.
Congratulations for the realization of such a large-scale spectacle also goes to all those who remain out of sight of the audience - the specialists from the technical services - every detail tonight was in place to build an overall picture of a brilliantly successful performance that not only excites but is and completely aesthetically pleasing.
At the end of the performance in front of a large audience - despite the noble competition of three other significant cultural events that evening, a basket of flowers was presented on behalf of the Mayor of Burgas Municipality - Mr. Dimitar Nikolov, and to the soloist Vera Girginova - on behalf of the State Opera - Burgas.
