28 november 2023 Viennese Glamor&Aristocratic Atmosphere With "DIE FLEDERMAUS

The atmosphere in the hall of the Burgas Opera will be festive - on Thursday. The sparkling mood - like sparkling champagne from Prince Orlovsky's ball - is guaranteed on November 30 at 7 pm - with the performance of one of Johann Strauss's most beloved operettas - "The Bat".

The comic Operetta in three acts appeals to connoisseurs and the general public alike, with glamorous music that carries the aristocratic flavor, finesse, and lightness of the Viennese waltz. Strauss' works are characterized by their life-affirming messages, creating a feeling of being transported to another reality - of refined manners, glamor, and elegance.

In the remarkable artistic cast of "The Bat" is the opera prima Edelina Kaneva /guest/, who has been the director of the National Music Theater - DMBC "Stefan Makedonski" - in the role of Rosalind, /recently the Burgas audience filled the Opera hall during at the "Tale for Two" concert when the opera prima sang together with another beloved Bulgarian performer - Orlin Goranov/. The tenor Marcho Apostolov /guest/ appears on the Burgas stage as Gabriel von Eisenstein. The Burgas audience knows him well from his memorable performances in other productions of the State Opera - Burgas: "Kiss me, Kate!" Tekeliev, and on the stage of the Musical Theater/, "Servants", "One Night in Venice" and others.

As the playful beauty Adela, the Burgas audience will have the opportunity to see the beautiful soprano Maria Tsvetkova-Madjarova. This month she celebrates her life anniversary, as during her stage career she has built memorable roles in the most famous opera works, and has also participated in a number of chamber performances of high artistic value. The Burgas audience last saw her on November 24 - in the exciting interpretation of the character of Mikaela in the opera "Carmen" by Georges Bizet.

The rest of the roles, each of which has an important function in the entertaining plot, are characterized by funny twists, complicated situations, and "adult lessons", ie. for grown-up children who have failed to learn some life lessons are entrusted to: Lina Peeva, mezzo-soprano, in the role of Ida, the tenor Yani Nikolov enters the image of Alfred – in love with Rosalinda, the baritone Yordan Hristozov takes the stage as Doctor Falke /all three artists from the Burgas Opera troupe participated in the exciting performance of "Carmen" last week/. Doctor Blind will be Miroslav Dimitrov – tenor, Frank – Kostadin Mechkov, as Prince Orlovsky, the Burgas audience will see and hear the soprano Shmilena Sultanova, Frosh will be Petar Tikholov, bass. The orchestra of the State Opera - Burgas will play under the baton of the great Bulgarian conductor with a remarkable international career, Ivan Kozhuharov, who manages to convey an incomparable emotional charge, padded with perfectionism, to every title under his baton. Recently, he conducted in the Opera House the outstanding performance of "Madame Butterfly" by Giacomo Puccini and the funny musical "Servants" by Parashkev Khadzhiev, which always sounds relevant.

The production of "The Bat", bearing the characteristic innovative features and trends in modern stage techniques, including multimedia, and simpler sets that give an opportunity to emphasize the acting and the messages of the musical motifs, is the work of Hans Nieuwenhuis from the Netherlands. The libretto of "The Bat" is by Carl Hafner and Richard Genet. The direction is by Darina Glavanakova-Bakerdzhieva, and the scenography and costumes are by Madis Nyurms. The conductor of the choir of the Burgas Opera is Alexander Chepanov, the dances are by Nedko Georgiev, the tutor of the ballet ensemble is Marina Zmeeva-Markova, and the concertmaster is Hristo Belchev. The artistic ensembles of the choir and the ballet of the State Opera-Burgas take part in the spectacular production. The mood for the audience is guaranteed, and the famous themes of the operetta, which have long lived their own independent life in the musical space, will immerse them in the unique atmosphere and sophistication of the Viennese lifestyle, thinking, and European culture. Attendees in the Opera House will enjoy the vital production and Strauss's wonderful music, which energizes, brings hope, purifies, and harmonizes.
And perhaps it is precisely the comic line, funny plot puns, and happy educational ending - for all participants in the entertaining story with an aristocratic flavor, garnished with beautiful outfits, polka, cancan, champagne, and lots of smiles, that are so necessary today. To give us a brighter perspective in a not-so-bright time.
And the hope for a good ending - like in the good old operetta, when everything ends happily because that's what tradition dictates - is omnipresent.

And this is the mission of the Artist - to give it to the audience, to recreate a good fairy tale on stage!
