20 august 2019 We Celebrate 16 Years Since the Death of Prof. Ivan Wolpe

Today, 20.08.2019, marks the 16th anniversary of the death of Prof. Ivan Vulpe, Bulgarian conductor and music educator / 1930-2003 / and grandson of opera singer Ivan Vulpe / 1876 - 1929 / Prof. Ivan Wolpe is one of the most deserving opera actors in the seaside city. He was the principal conductor of the Bourgas Symphony Orchestra from 1960 to 1978. During his time, the Burgas Philharmonic Orchestra gained the fame of one of the most prominent Bulgarian orchestras. Wolpe is the director and chief conductor of the Burgas Opera / 1990-1996 /. Since 1989 he has been Professor of Opera Conducting at the Vocal Faculty of the Bulgarian State Conservatory. Conductor and one of the organizers of the First International Piano Competition "Pancho Vladigerov" in Shumen. Winner of the second prize at the International Competition for Conductors "Santa Cecilia" in Rome, Italy / 1965 /. Member of the British Museum of Physics (1988).
The concert hall in Burgas is deservedly named after the great Bulgarian conductor.
