After the undisputed success of the ballets: "Pahita" - in 2020, "Giselle" - in 2021, "Don Quixote" - in the summer season of 2022 and "The Bad Girl" - in April 2023. , for connoisseurs of fine dance art, the Burgas Opera has prepared a new premiere title in its repertoire - for the first time on the stage of the Burgas Cultural Institute, the ballet "Corsair" will be presented to the music of Adolf Adam, Cesar Puni, Leo Delibe, Ricardo Drigo, Pyotr Oldenburg. The choreography is by Marius Petipa, Joseph Mazile, and Konstantin Sergeev, the libretto is by Jules-Henri Vernois de Saint-Georges, based on the poem "The Corsair" by George Byron.

On the State Opera - Burgas stage on June 8, Saturday, from 7 p.m., the large-scale production will offer a real stage spectacle - both in scenography and costumes, as direction, and as an artistic presence! The audience will be drawn into the dizzying plot with exotic elements, in which love, jealousy, and insidious plans for revenge are woven. Above all - the apotheosis of true feelings, having passed through insidious undercurrents and reefs, unfurls its sails boldly to lead the ship of love on the high seas - where happiness is visible on the horizon...

The choreography and direction of the new title in the repertoire of the Burgas Cultural Institute are by Galina Kalcheva. The long-time prima ballerina of the Burgas Opera already has other titles in her portfolio as a director - "Don Quixote", "Giselle", "Pahita" and "The Badly Protected Girl" - titles presented with great success and high audience interest in the last three years of Burgas stage, containing original elements and a staging approach combining classical techniques with innovative ideas.

said Galina Kalcheva, who, in sync with the ballet dancers, precisely finishes every detail of the production to be brilliantly presented at the premiere performance.

The choreographers Galina Kalcheva and Marina Zmeeva-Markova are tutors of the ballet ensemble. In the rehearsal period, which is currently going on intensively, the details in the construction of the overall look of the performance are sculpted precisely by the ballet troupe. The assistant director of the production is Petar Tiholov.

The scenographer of the premiere title is the acclaimed professional in the field Ivan Tokadzhiev, who also created the fabulous scenery of the ballets "Don Quixote", "Giselle", "Bayadere", "The Badly Protected Girl", the children's opera "Max and Moritz", as well as of many other titles from the repertoire of the State Opera - Burgas. "The process of creating the scenography for a new production is difficult, connected with many nerves, but we will make it for the premiere. When the audience enters the hall, no one will ask: "Was it difficult for you?", and when the hall goes out, the spotlights turn on and the curtain rises - the audience must gasp! With the State Opera - Burgas, I have worked on the creation of the scenography for "Baladerka", "Giselle", "Don Quixote", "The Badly Protected Girl" and others. successful titles. The Burgas Opera can boast of a wide range of productions, which are also related to the most important audience - children. In this regard, I admire the leadership of the Opera House - to promote musical and stage art at a high artistic level with enormous efforts, including for the children's audience. I wish to defend and popularize Bulgarian creativity, and this is an important mission in times when the situation is scorching, and the mass taste imposes questionable values..." said the prominent set designer Ivan Tokadjiev before the premiere.

The attractive costumes, which will bring an additional playful element to the humorous plot, are the work of Anna-Maria Tokadzhieva, a talented young artist. She was in a brilliant creative tandem with Ivan Tokajiev in the process of creating the fabulous vision of the ballet production "Giselle" and "Max and Moritz", being the author of the scenography and costumes of the children's musical "The Three Little Pigs Puff, Puff, Puff".
