29 november 2021 "Paquita" and "Carmina Burana" in the Opera Hall on Tuesday

Tomorrow, Tuesday - October 30, at 7 pm on the stage of the Burgas Opera will be presented two works - the majestically sounding and impressive with the power of the impact on the senses and mind stage cantata "Carmina Burana" by Carl Orff and variations of the ballet  "Paquita"  By Ludwig Minkus. The event is the last of the busy program for November of the State Opera - Burgas. Maestro Ivan Kozhuharov stands behind the conductor's desk of both works.

Carmina Burana is one of the most famous and performed works in the world. The leitmotif of the stage cantata is a philosophical interpretation of the difficult transition from youth to maturity. The cantata is inspired by the original text of "Carmina Burana" - a group of itinerant preachers who came to the conclusion that the world is not governed by moral principles-postulates. They create a circle of dedicated people who follow the rules of virtue and dive passionately into a life subject to hedonism - the pursuit of pleasure and existence through it. The plot develops ideas born of the imagination of young people. The Gothic myth is recreated on the iconic music of Carl Orff. The theme of Evil and the symbolism associated with its influence on human souls is developed in the storyline. It presents a society eaten away by sin, without fear of divine retribution. The points in the presented scenes are wine, women, entertainment, revelry, search for more and more stimuli for the senses. The irony and parody of the clichés are characteristic of the plot of the cantata. Carmina Burana is a syncretic work in which music, dance, and impressive scenography merge into a single overall suggestion. The 25 songs in the cantata are by unknown authors - troubadours from the Middle Ages and are grouped into three sections: about spring, wine, and love, thus uniting the main aspects of human existence. The most famous song in the cantata is "Oh, Fortuna!", Which sounds in a number of productions of the Seventh Art and is a preferred musical background for various events - to give an overall dramatic nuance to the perception.

Tomorrow over 100 performers will perform on the stage of the Burgas Opera - soloists, orchestra, choir, and ballet of the State Opera - Burgas. The verses of medieval poets, which served as the basis of the cantata, will be performed by the soloists - Maria Tsvetkova-Madzharova, soprano, Dimitar Arnaudov, countertenor - guest, Alexander Krunev - baritone. The parties of all three soloists go beyond the conventional notions of the limits of the human voice and are a real challenge for the performers, and for the audience - an incomparable bonus with added aesthetic value. The soloists of the ballet are Yana Berduta, who also plays the role of Fortuna herself and Daniel Tichkov. Maestro Ivan Kozhuharov stands behind the conductor's desk. The direction, presenting a philosophical interpretation and characterized by depth, is by Darina Glavanakova-Bakardzhieva, an artist of impressive scenography, in which the semantic and factual emphasis is "Wheel of Destiny", is Maria Trendafilova, the impressive choreography is by Zhelka Tabakova, conductor Nevena Mihaylova, concertmaster - Vanya Zlateva. The assistant director of the production is Lina Peeva, the subtitles, which introduce the audience to the semantic and philosophical depth of the medieval text, are the work of Srebrina Slavova, the prompter is Dora Fartunova.

The other highlight of tomorrow's program are variations from Act III of the ballet "Pahita" by Ludwig Minkus, choreographed by Marius Petipa. The production is by Galina Kalcheva, who is also a tutor of the ballet ensemble. Maestro Ivan Kozhuharov is again behind the conductor's desk, Vanya Zlateva is the concertmaster, and Petar Tiholov is the assistant director. The soloists Ivanina Ivanova and Teodor Tsakov take part in the ballet performance. The ballet dancers also participate: Daniela Turtumanova-Stoyanova, Yana Berduta, Natalie Ivanova, Iva Ovcharova, Polina Ivanova, Laya Ramon, Sabina Koseva, Ivana Fialkovska, Nikol Marenova, Maria Gabarova, Bianca-Helen Giovanelli, Gergana Georgieva, Raia Georgieva, Raya .

"Paquita" i is a classic ballet work that I especially like," says Galina Kalcheva, who played in the production of "Pahita" by the famous Russian ballerina and choreographer Lyubov Fominikh on the Burgas stage years ago. "Separate variations of the work will be performed on the stage, which shows in the best way the mastery of the artists. "Paquita" is a very appropriate title for maintaining the shape of the ballet troupe, "adds Kalcheva.

The premiere of "Pahita" was on July 25 on the stage of the Summer Theater, as part of the program of the Burgas Musical Festival "Emil Chakarov" 2021, performed by the State Opera - Burgas and the Municipality of Burgas. The performance was nominated and won the prize for "Event of the Month" in the ranking of the show for classical music and jazz "Eternal Music" on BNT, with author and host Mario Nikolov, who a few days ago was on the Burgas stage - as a director and soloist in the operetta by Johann Strauss-son "Wiener Blut".

"Paquita" also participates in the annual ranking for "Musical Event of the Year" of "Eternal Music". We remind our fans that the concert performance "Primadonna-Donna-Donna!", Which was presented again last week on the Burgas stage, was "Event of November 2020" and won the prestigious third place in the annual ranking of the show on the National television.
