Soloist, orchestra, choir, and ballet of the State Opera - BourgasPygmalion is a theatrical play by George Bernard Shaw, based on the ancient Greek myth of Pygmalion. In 1938, the work was released on the big screen, and on March 15, 1956, for the first time on Broadway at the Mark Hellinger Theater in New York, a musical based on the film and play entitled "My Beautiful Lady" was staged. The theatrical version of the play won nine Tony Awards, achieving great success and universal acclaim."My Fair Lady" is a classic work in which a mature man takes a girl under his wing, clumsy and primal and models it so that he finally falls in love with her. The musical presents an old story about the transforming power of love, in which the main character is the street exotic florist with a colorful London dialect - Eliza Doolittle. Henry Higgins, a professor of phonetics, is outraged by her pronunciation and bets her friend Pickering that she will turn Eliza into a real lady in six months by teaching her to speak correctly. She agrees to this challenge because she strongly dreams of a better job and it would help her. Comic adventures follow, in which the unadulterated heroine both enrages and fascinates her teacher, transforming into the role assigned to her by the professor. As time went on, Higgins and Doolittle became close, but she rejected his training attempts, remained true to herself, and announced that she would marry Freddie Ainsford-Hill, a poor young gentleman. In the end, the professor wins the bet but realizes that a person's beauty is not visible on the surface, but is hidden deep in his soul.
