23 may 2025 Awards Were Presented At the Gala Concert For May 24

On the eve of the brightest Bulgarian holiday – May 24 – Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, of the Bulgarian Alphabet, Education and Culture and of Slavic Literature, the Burgas Orchestra presented a symphonic concert with works by Bulgarian composers - under the baton of Maestro Yordan Dafov.
Before the concert, Mr. Stanislav Pochekanski, Chairman of the Union of Bulgarian Music and Dance Artists, presented the Special Award of the Union of Bulgarian Music and Dance Artists for contribution to musical culture to Vanya Zlateva, long-time concertmaster of the State Opera - Burgas.
At the end of the exciting event, which featured works by Bulgarian composers, Svetlana Krasteva, Administrative Director of the Burgas Cultural Institute, presented Maestro Yordan Dafov with a diploma and a plaque for exceptional contribution to the contemporary Bulgarian conducting school and bright presence in the musical life of Burgas on behalf of the Mayor of Burgas Municipality - Mr. Dimitar Nikolov. The award was received before the concert in the Congress Hall of the Sea Station in Burgas at the ceremony on the occasion of May 24, at which distinguished figures of art and culture are traditionally awarded.

The concert program included:
"Classical and Romantic" op. 24 for chamber orchestra by the great Bulgarian composer, considered a modern classic - Prof. Pancho Vladigerov. Four of the seven movements of the work were performed: "Rigodon", "Saarabande", "Minuet" and "March". The second work that was performed at the concert on May 23 was "Festive Music" /"Psalms and Rituals"/ for chamber orchestra by Vasil Kazandjiev. The program followed by "Adagio" for string orchestra by Krasimir Kyurkchiyski. The concert ended with "Bucolics" /Thracian Pastoral Scenes/ by Konstantin Iliev, with parts: "Plain", "Wedding", "The Confusion", "Evening in the Field" and "Holiday".
The event, in addition to the prestigious award that Maestro Dafov was awarded, was also honored with the traditional basket of flowers on behalf of the Mayor of Burgas Municipality - Mr. Dimitar Nikolov.
