Burgas spectators will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the fairytale world of the ballet extravaganza "Sleeping Beauty" tomorrow, Tuesday, October 19 at 19:00 in the hall of the Burgas Opera. The show is dedicated to raising funds for the treatment of 5-year-old Krisi / Kristian Stoyanov / from Burgas, who due to birth trauma has developmental problems and needs ongoing expensive treatment with stem cells in clinics abroad. The District Governor Prof. Dr. Maria Neykova dedicated her personal holiday - her birthday in July this year, to the cause of little Chrissy. At a charity concert at the Center for Contemporary Art and Library - Burgas Prof. Neykova addressed the audience with exciting words and announced that the director of the Burgas Opera Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alexander Tekeliev plans to hold a charity event with the Burgas cultural institution. "I am happy that we are united in doing good, united in our desire to save a child, united to help parents cope in this difficult period for them. Your goodness cannot be measured. The fact that you are here and now means a lot to me and to Christian's parents, and to himself, too. This is just the beginning of little Chrissy's happy story, "Maria Neykova said in an emotional address on her birthday at the Library.
On Tuesday, visitors to "Sleeping Beauty" in the Opera Hall will witness not only a beautiful fairy tale told through the means of ballet, but will also become involved in a noble help to Chrissy. It is not the first time that the Burgas Opera shows empathy for such social causes, the performance tomorrow is another proof.
"Sleeping Beauty" is a large-scale ballet project, impressive - as production, creative scope, and aesthetic vision. The show introduces the world of an enchanted princess, noble fairies, an evil sorceress with a heavy tragedy, a handsome prince with a good and brave heart, magic, a spectacle of colors, movements, emotions, and beautiful details, sculpting a true fairy-tale reality. The ballet is based on the plot of one of Charles Perrault's most beloved children's tales and on the immortal music of PI Tchaikovsky.
The Sleeping Beauty premiered at the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg in 1890. From its inception until today, it continues to be considered a classic in the repertoire of world theaters. "Sleeping Beauty" is the longest ballet of the genius Russian composer - its duration in the original is about four hours. It is almost always abbreviated. In the interpretation of Prof. Hikmet Mehmedov, the final quadrille is preserved, in which the characters from Pero's fairy tales dance - The Cat in Boots, Thumb, Little Red Riding Hood, and others.
The choreography of "Sleeping Beauty" is based on Marius Petipa and Prof. Hikmet Mehmedov. The production and directing work of Professor Mehmedov is impressive with artistic perfectionism and creative scope, transporting the audience into a fairytale dimension, where aesthetics and exquisite expressiveness prevail. The sets, in accordance with the requirements of a similar scale of the unfolding of the action, are by the set designer Ivan Tokadjiev, whose style is often defined as close to that of Salvador Dali. The costume designer is the costume designer Tsvetanka Petkova-Stoynova, who received the award of the Association of Choreographers for her creative work in "Sleeping Beauty". The number of costumes in the large-scale production is over eighty. They are made entirely by hand, and the women's dresses are embroidered with thousands of Swarovski crystals, each of them glued by hand to obtain the exquisite overall vision of the fabulous stage costumes. Tutor of the ballet troupe of the State Opera - Burgas - Galina Kalcheva, who at the premiere, which took place on May 4, 2017, was on stage - in the role of Fairy Lilac. The director of the State Opera - Burgas, Assoc. Bright and with their own handwriting are all the images that make up the beautiful fairy-tale reality in "Sleeping Beauty". Prima ballerina Ivanina Ivanova will appear on stage tomorrow in the image of Princess Aurora, who is enchanted by the evil fairy and falls into a deep long sleep, and Prince Desiree frees her from the tragedy - the role is played by the Prime Minister-ballet dancer Emil Yordanov. Polina Ivanova, who debuted brilliantly in the role of Aurora in November 2020, will appear on the stage tomorrow as Fairy Lilac / also debut /. Natalie Ivanova made her debut as Karabos, the fairy who, through a spell, doomed Princess Aurora to an unforgettable dream. Svetlana Nikolov will see the Burgas audience as King Florestan, Maria Gabarova will appear on the Burgas stage as the Queen. Gentle enchanting fairytale presence on the stage have the other fairytale creatures: Fairy of tenderness - Patricia Soares, Fairy of fertility - Raya Chakarova, Fairy of generosity - Sabina Koseva, Fairy of carelessness - Iva Ovcharova /she enters the role of Little Red Riding Hood /, Fairy of Courage - Laya Ramon, who will also be Princess Florina / debut /.
The male presence in the ballet "Sleeping Beauty", full of fairy tales, is no less colorful: Teodor Tsakov is the role of the Blue Bird. The ensemble of the Four Cavaliers will feature Teodor Tsakov, Daniel Tichkov, Kiril Filipov, and Stefan Tipikov. Kiril Filipov will also be in the role of Wolf, together with Iva Ovcharova / Little Red Riding Hood /. Ivana Fialkovska and Daniel Tichkov take part in the "The Cat in Boots" stage. Branimir Nedkov will appear on the stage tomorrow as the master of ceremonies Catalabut.
