23 october 2026 Brilliant Performers and Conductor in "La Traviata" on Friday
On Friday evening, the ensemble of the State Opera – Burgas presented a performance of *La Traviata*, under the expert baton of conductor Ivan Kozhuharov, characterized by a spectrum of dramatic emotions, magnificent music, a stirring performance, stage brilliance, and emotional depth.
Congratulations to everyone—the soloists, orchestra, chorus, ballet, and technical staff—for their professionalism and dedication!
Over the past calendar year, this production of *La Traviata*, directed by Prof. Dr. Alexander Tekeliev, has been staged in Burgas four times, featuring three different conductors. Each performance reached an exceptional standard—devoid of any sense of routine—both in terms of professional grounding and emotional intensity. On every occasion, the artists and musicians have imbued the score and the characters' stage presence with depth, psychological nuance, and a distinct quality that grows richer with each performance. This Friday, the distinguished maestro Ivan Kozhuharov ignited a spark within the performers—an essential element for any high-caliber production. Such a performance not only presents an aesthetic challenge but also carries that elusive emotional depth, with the power to resonate deeply with the human spirit.
The wonderful soloists displayed a wealth of stage charisma, vocal perfection, dramatic depth, and a consistent approach to character development. The orchestral sound was perfectly integrated with the overall atmosphere and the messages conveyed by Verdi’s music. The artists of the chorus and the ballet were also an organic part of the production’s grand splendor.
At the end of the performance, a traditional basket of flowers was presented on behalf of the Mayor of the Municipality of Burgas, Mr. Dimitar Nikolov.
Applause followed the performance, along with video clips from "La Traviata":
