Almost three years after the brilliant premiere /on October 8, 2021/, the new staged reading of "The Barber of Seville" by Gioacchino Rossini, directed by Associate Professor Alexander Tekeliev, skilfully combined with the original scenographic and costuming decisions of Denis Ivanov, continues to be a hit - with eternally relevant themes, dizzying directorial decisions and avant-garde scenography, whirlwind artistic presence, a pinch of eroticism and guaranteed smiles. The updated version of the opera continues to prove that the challenge of the new approach is accepted with understanding and is a sure way to get out of the comfort zone - to broaden horizons and enrich perceptions.
For the ninth time, the new interpretation of Rossini's masterpiece will be presented - as a fury of comic situations, fresh banter, sincere laughter, and references to modern reality, on the Burgas stage. With each performance, the staging is enriched, and the artists add new psychological nuances to the images. One thing is constant - everyone plays with visible pleasure and has fun with the catchy plot with elements of social satire. All the artists managed to build a complete theatrical image of the performance, adding to the brilliant vocal performance artistry and flair for all the ideas put into the staging decisions of Prof. Tekeliev. "The Barber of Seville" on the Burgas stage is not only an opera - in its classical form - none of Rossini's musical score has been changed, but also a wonderful complex spectacle, carrying not only boisterous laughter but also several messages.

The baritone Andrei Yurkovski, recently a soloist of the Burgas Opera, made a brilliant debut in the role of Figaro during the performance on June 14 in the Opera hall, and once again entered the fun role of the famous barber, but in the style of Elvis Presley and the rock era of the 70s those years.
The image of the cunning Rozina will once again be recreated by the charismatic mezzo-soprano Joanna Kadiyska, who is a real whirlwind of charm and emotions, combined with wonderful vocal data and a beautiful rich timbre. She builds the image with ease, and finesse, radiates charm, and charges with mood. The young soloist of the Burgas Opera Andreya Mirchev, who in August 2023 made his memorable debut in the role of Count /Sheikh/ Almaviva on the stage of the Summer Theater in Burgas and performed the complex part with ease and mood - and as a vocal technique, and as artistic tasks. Bass Kostadin Mechkov will once again be super fun in the titillating portrayal of the old bore of Doctor Bartolo, who woos the beautiful Rozina's attention unsuccessfully, building the role with flair, taste, and undeniable mastery. Excellent vocal training, a fresh sense of humor, brilliant artistic solutions and stage charisma will be presented by the bass Diman Panchev in the role of one of the most famous intriguers in the opera world - Don Basilio, with the famous Aria na slander being his trademark - as an emanation of the insidious acts leading to disastrous results. Diman Panchev is the winner of the Mayor's Award - Mr. Dimitar Nikolov award on the occasion of May 24 - Day of the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius, the Bulgarian alphabet, education and culture, and Slavic literature, for 2022 - precisely for the wonderful interpretation of the role of Don Basilio. The soprano Nona Krastnikova will once again cause genuine smiles with her cute, daring, provocative Berta, who does not hide her affinity for men, wine, and... something else and builds the image with enough self-irony. The baritone Yordan Hristozov will also be fresh and artistic - in the roles of Fiorello, close to Count Almaviva, and the Officer, who brings order to the artistic chaos that has occurred in the storyline.
