07 july 2022 Dynamics And Good Mood With "The Barber of Seville"

At the beginning of July, the weather was finally kind to the artists and the audience of the performances on the stage of the Burgas Summer Theater - Official page. On a warm summer evening, the modernized version of THE BARBER OF SEVILLE / IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA was presented outdoors for the first time, based on the innovative directorial reading of Associate Professor Alexander Tekeliev and the dizzying scenography of the young multi-functional artist Denis Ivanov.
Under the baton of maestro Ivan Kozhuharov, who once again managed to skillfully subdue the energy of all performers - soloists, choir, and orchestra - to his creative charge, a performance saturated with fresh emotion - in gradation - was created. The concertmaster of the wonderfully balanced and precise interpretation of Rossini's complex score orchestra was Hristo Belchev.
The mood of everyone involved in the musical-scenic-social-psychological experiment was visible. The artists not only present art, but experienced it - with flair, passion, and creative dedication.
The solo composition was first-class, which deserved a standing ovation - both after the performances during the show and at its successful end.
Baritone Alexander Krunev Alexander Krunev re-entered his crowning role as the barber Figaro, who is a passionate fan of Elvis Presley - temperamental, wonderfully vocally sustained, and with a unique sense of humor. Lyric-spint tenor Nikolay Motsov /guest/ Nikolay Motsov, who recently defended the title of "professor" in his academic career, once again built in a wonderful way, padded both vocally and artistically, the role of Count /Sheikh/ Almaviva.
In the image of the cunning Rozina was the charismatic mezzo-soprano Ioana Kadiyska - this evening was a real whirlwind of charm and emotions, combined with wonderful vocal data and a rich timbre.
Bass Kostadin Mechkov was convincing and hearty laugh-out-loud with his role as Dr. Bartolo, an aging bore pursuing the beautiful Rozina. Bass Diman Panchev fully defended the high recognition for his role of Don Basilio, for which he received this year's award of the Municipality of Burgas on the occasion of May 24 - for achievements in the field of art and culture. Soprano Nona Krastnikova once again built with intelligent stage presence and a wonderfully controlled voice the humorous character of the defiant housekeeper Bertha. Baritone Branimir Nedkov Branimir Nedkov presented himself convincingly and colorfully in the funny roles of Fiorello - conductor of the "band" of musicians, in the funny role of the hippie, as well as the Officer - the keeper of order in the sympathetic mess created by the characters. An original idea in Alexander Tekeliev's directorial concept was that each of the choristers /conducted by Nevena Mihaylova/ had individual artistic etudes, performed professionally and with a palpable mood.
Not out of place, the necessary attention should also be given to the merits of the pianist Mira Iskarova, who performed the piano recitatives, which have an important function in Rossini's opera structure, to the assistant directors of the large-scale production - Lina Peeva Lina Peeva and Petar Tiholov Petar Tiholov, as well as to all the specialists from the technical services, provided an advanced performance, which was at the European level.
The performance of "The Barber of Seville" was colorful and invigorating – for the first time on an open stage in Primorski Park this evening. In addition to spontaneously generated laughter, the attendees unobtrusively received reasons for a lot of reflection - about painful topics of the present day...
Of course, the wonderfully designed stage did not lack a colorful addition - the traditional basket on behalf of mayor Dimitar Nikolov. The event was the next in the calendar of the Burgas Music Festival "Emil Chakarov" 2022, held for the fifteenth time by the State Opera - Burgas and the Municipality of Burgas.
The program of the summer festival includes a performance of "The Barber of Seville" on August 24th, and the main roles will be: Ilina Mihailova /guest/, Dobromir Momekov /guest/, Nikolay Motsov /guest/, Kostadin Mechkov, Delyan Slavov, Nona Krastnikova, and Branimir Nedkov. On September 8th, the first performance outside Burgas is coming up - on the stage of the Summer Theater - Varna.
