The Summer Music Festival "Emil Chakarov" - 2020 will be officially opened on the stage of the Summer Theater - Burgas, on July 7, at 21:00 with the opera "Masked Ball" /UN BALLO IN MASCHERA/ by Giuseppe Verdi. The music festival is held for the 13th time, with the support of the Municipality of Burgas. On the stage in the Seaside Park will come to life the story of dramatic relationships, sinful desires, marked by the path to painful awareness - under the pressure of the dictates of public morality. The audience will witness the entanglement of destinies and the unraveling of human destinies.

The title was not chosen by chance - it is in line with the surprising realities of recent months, which have imposed the term "mask" in a completely different and much more pragmatic sense. And art is the antithesis of the unflattering facts of life, although it reflects and transforms them.

Verdi's opera contains the sacraments typical of the performing arts, conspiracies, internal struggles, the pursuit of redemption - all woven into a beautiful musical narrative about the power of feelings, the fate of meetings, relationships, divisions. The staging of the Verdi Opera, through the innovative directorial decisions of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alexander Tekeliev, will unfold its dramatic brilliance on the stage of the Summer Theater next Tuesday. The show is analogous to the life ball with masks, which contains the whole spectrum of emotions and feelings - tearing doubts, treacherous tendencies, a whirlpool of passions, pure love, marked by doom, dramatic denouements ...

The conductor of "Masked Ball" is maestro Ivan Kozhuharov, conductor of the choir - Nevena Mihaylova, concertmaster - Yordan Kovachev, assistant director - Lina Peeva. Stylish and impressive to the overall impact of the show is the scenography of "Masked Ball" by Dimo Kostadinov, and the costumes of Lili Kostadinova - beautiful and consistent with the nature of the images, whose overall vision they complement. The sculpture belongs to Grisha Roglev.

The artistic caste is magnificent: the guest Valery Georgiev enters the role of the noble Ricardo, the soprano Joana Zhelezcheva will incarnate in the image of Amelia - torn between love and debt, the baritone Alexander Krunev will be the ambitious Renato, Maria Tsvetkova-Madjarova enters the role, mezzo-soprano Daniela Dyakova will be the mysterious and respectful fortune teller Ulrika. As the two conspirators, the Burgas audience will see the bass Delyan Slavov - Samuel, and Diman Panchev - Tom. The baritone Branimir Nedkov will be Silvano, Lyubomir Todorov will be seen in the role of the Chief Judge, and Milen Dinolov - as Amelia's servant.

In August we will have: the opera for children by Alexander Yosifov "Max and Moritz", directed by Alexander Tekeliev - on August 4, on the stage of the Summer Theater, starring: Stefka Hristozova, Vessela Apostolova, Branimir Nedkov, Lina Peeva, Diman Panchev, Yani Nikolov, Petar Tiholov, Miroslav Dimitrov.

Also on the stage of the Summer Theater - Burgas - on August 11, we will see the musical "Kiss Me, Kate" by Cole Porter, directed by Alexander Tekeliev, conductor - Tsanislav Petkov, set design and costumes - Denis Ivanov, choreography - Zhelka Tabakova. With the brilliant premiere of the play, last year's Summer Music Festival was closed, after which the State Opera - Burgas visited with great success the musical on the stage of the National Theater "Ivan Vazov" in November 2019.
