01 august 2026 Impressive "Carmina Burana" and "Bolero" at Begliktash

The second evening of the "Opera of the Sanctuary" festival, held for the seventh time by the Burgas State Opera and the Municipality of Primorsko, presented the magnificent cantata "Carmina Burana" by Carl Orff and the ballet to the music of the emblematic "Bolero" by Maurice Ravel CARMINA BURANA – BOLERO under the passionate conducting of Ivan Kozhuharov last night on stage among the mystical ancient Thracian megaliths of Begliktash.
Admiration for the conductor, soloists, musicians, artists from the choir and the ballet of the Burgas State Opera, as well as for the specialists from the technical services! All - as one perfectly synchronized team, presented an experience that affects all levels of perception!

The iconic cantata by Carl Orff, which is composed in such a way that it affects not only the senses and consciousness, but also penetrates deep into the subconscious fields, was presented for the first time under the starry dome of the sanctuary, combining the centuries-old mysteries with what is encoded in the musical text.

Ivan Kozhuharov brilliantly led the soloists, choir, orchestra and ballet on a mystical journey, with a feeling of touching another dimension.

Maria Tsvetkova-Madzharova, Milen Dinolov and Valeri Turmanov not only looked perfect, but also sounded in an uncompromising way above the rock massifs, giving their roles even more magical nuance.

The overall perception of music, text, and an impressive multimedia environment through which the rocks acquired bizarre symbolic forms, as well as the brilliant performance of all artists and musicians, made the experience a true emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and aesthetic jewel with deep philosophical meaning and messages.

 

The second event within the festival evening was the ballet "Bolero" to the iconic music of Maurice Ravel and the magnificent contemporary choreography of Galina Kalcheva.
In sync with the multimedia picture behind the stage /specially built next to the stones of the sanctuary/, the incredible soloists Raya Chakarova and Teodor Tsakov, as well as the other - also impeccable, ballet dancers presented an amazing picture recreating the Creation - of the universe and man, who went through the original sin and the whole set of ancient biblical stories, but with eternal messages.

Well done for the futuristic and simultaneously atavistic visual-semantic picture, painted through the precise trajectory of the bodies, which are actually an extension of the souls!...

Admiration for all the artists dedicated to the cause of high art, for the director Galina Kalcheva, as well as for the specialists from the technical services, who ensured one spectacle - both "Carmina Burana" and "Bolero" - at the highest artistic and complex level.
