30 november 2022 A Large Audience of "Il T" At the Opera House

On the last frosty evening of November, the tragic story of the Troubadour was told in the Burgas Opera - in the exciting performance of one of Verdi's most popular operas.
A performance was created with a strong charge, under the baton of Matei Pop /Romania/, who managed to lead the orchestra and artists safely, with measure and balance - in dynamics, tempo, and overall concept, and made his successful debut behind the desk in the serious opera title.
Despite the "competition" of quite significant cultural events that evening in Burgas, the audience in the Opera hall was numerous and responsive, understanding, and grateful, adding to the musical-aesthetic value of the invariable element of empathy and the emotional resonance it evokes. It is precisely in this process that the primordial meaning of art is contained...

The solo composition was subordinated to the general energy charge. Each of the performers managed to embody in their own character, each of them - an irreplaceable part of the whole - artistically, ideologically, philosophically, and musically. The result was a magical fusion between the artists, who not only successfully performed their vocal parts, characterized by complexity and required very solid preparation to achieve a complete and impactful interpretation of Verdi's concept. Each of the singers managed to understand the specifics of the tragic images - in-depth and emotional-psychological padding.
The tenor Peño Pirozov Peño Atanasov Pirozov /guest/ made his debut as the troubadour Manrico, who invested a lot of passion and self-sacrifice in the construction of the complex dramatic character, subject to tragic love and tangled knots of fate.
In the role of the gentle beauty who sacrifices her life in the name of love - Leonora, the soprano Maria Tsvetkova-Madzharova Maria Tsvetkova-Madzharova brilliantly presented herself, improves the role with each subsequent performance.
Respectable, as usual - in the image of Count Di Luna, the treacherous unshakable nobleman, carried away by a destructive passion for Leonora, was the baritone Alexander Krunev Alexander Krunev.
Mezzo-soprano Daniela Diakova was unmistakable as Azucena - one of her signature roles and one of her strongest incarnations in the complex dramaturgical image.
Vocally stable and with a captivating artistic presence was the bass Kostadin Mechkov as Ferrando, chief of the palace guard, telling the movingly sad legend that tragically intertwined the destinies of the characters.
Mezzo-soprano Lina Peeva Lina Peeva played the role of Ines, Leonora's trusted friend, with whom the infatuated beauty shares the secrets of her heart. She is also the assistant director of the production, together with Petar Tiholov.
Lubomir Todorov introduced himself as Ruitz, Nikolay Nikolov in the image of the Old Gypsy, and Milen Dinolov as Herald.
In the large-scale performance - as an invariable part of the overall impression, were the wonderfully sounding orchestra, with concertmaster Hristo Belchev - with masterfully constructed dynamics and technical padding, the beautifully balanced choir - with conductor Nevena Mihaylova, as well as the ballet - choreographed by Galina Kalcheva Galina Kalcheva, tutor - Marina Zmeeva-Markova Marina Zmeeva-Markova.
The impressive direction and scenography of the large-scale production of "Troubadour" are by Ivan Savov. One of the emblematic scenes in "The Troubadour" - the Chorus of the Gypsies, with its colorful scenography, costumes, and mise-en-scène, was a kind of artistic highlight in the opera performance. The scene in the monastery was also subject to the overall emotional charge. The choral parts sounded completely in sync with the general atmosphere of gloom, tragedy, and doom - in tune with the era represented - the dark Middle Ages, the 15th century, a cruel time with harsh principles...

Congratulations to all the performers for the wonderfully constructed and protected musical-artistic concept of the performance!
Admirations are also due to all "behind the scenes" specialists - technical services/sound engineers, lighting, stage workers/, prompter and props /Dora Fertunova/, make-up and wigs manager /Kalina Popova/, subtitles /Srebrina Slavova/. Scenography and directing - Ivan Savov.
