04 october 2022 Lots of laughs with The Barber of Seville
The new Season 2022/2023 for the Burgas State Opera was opened on Tuesday evening - October 4th, with the cheerful and bursting with emotions comic opera THE BARBER OF SEVILLE / IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA to music by Gioacchino Rossini, directed by Assoc. Alexander Tekeliev, scenography and costumes - Denis Ivanov.
The next, seventh, performance of the production, which has already been performed on the stage of Burgas for a year, and in the summer season - in front of a large international audience in the Summer Theater in the seaside city, was again under the sign of success and with the trademark of the high degree of mood.
Under the baton of maestro Ivan Kozhuharov, the magnificent artistic composition: Dobromir Momekov /guest/ - Figaro, Joana Kadiyska - Rozina, Nikolay Motsov - Count Almaviva, Kostadin Mechkov - Dr. Bartolo, Delyan Slavov - Don Basilio, Nona Krastnikova - Berta, Jordan Hristozov - Fiorello and Officer, as well as the artists from the choir with conductor Nevena Mihailova and the musicians from the orchestra with concertmaster Hristo Belchev, created a hyper-emotional amalgam of beautiful music, fresh humor, dizzying and captivating directorial decisions and an explosion of artistry and visible pleasure from the stage interaction to everyone involved.
The baritone Dobromir Momekov entered for the second time - after the performance on August 24th in the Summer Theater, within the framework of the Burgas Music Festival "Emil Chakarov" - with undisguised pleasure from the stage re-creation of his famous character Figaro, but in an unexpected and extremely funny role. made entirely in the style of the 70s of the XX century. The charming mezzo-soprano Joana Kadiyska once again built the image of the witty trickster Rozina - convincingly and with mood. Lyric-spint tenor Nikolay Motsov took on the role of Count/Sheikh/Almaviva for the seventh time, and with each passing performance he adds new nuances to the multifaceted stage image, characterized by high vocal-technical difficulty. To the same extent, this statement also applies to the bass Costadini Mechkov, who was once again brilliant as Doctor Bartolo. Magnificent artistic transformations, supported by a masterful performance of the opera parts, were also presented by the bass Delyan Slavov - as Don Basilio, the soprano Nona Krastnikova - in the original and emotionally presented image of the housekeeper Berta, as well as the baritone Yordan Hristozov - in the roles of Fiorillo and the Officer.
Congratulations for the wonderful performance of one of the most beloved operas also goes to the pianist Iliana Todorova, who performed the piano recitatives during the performance, to the assistant directors Lina Peeva and Petar Tiholov, as well as to the specialists from the technical services.
