On May 21, this year, in the refined and distinguished by style and spirituality of the new Center for Contemporary Art and Library were presented the traditional awards of the Municipality of Burgas on the occasion of May 24 - Day of Bulgarian education and culture and Slavic writing.
The official event was attended by representatives of the municipal administration, members of the public, representatives of cultural institutions. The long-time accompanist of the State Opera - Burgas RAYNA POPOVA was nominated by the Burgas cultural institution this year on the occasion of the extremely rich creative biography of the remarkable pianist.
Raina Popova received the award personally from the Mayor of Burgas, Mr. Dimitar Nikolov, who awarded the traditional honorary prize - a diploma and plaque, and other prominent Burgas artists working in the field of art.
Raina Popova thanked for the honor of the mayor and the director of the Burgas Opera - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alexander Tekeliev - for the opportunity, after years of creative work abroad, to return to his beloved job as an accompanist at the State Opera - Burgas.
Professionals such as Rayna Popova work diligently on the so-called "quiet front", which is invisible to the general public, but indispensable - as meaning, role and significance for the detailed production of works by artists and achieving a complete stage product with high quality. . Raina Popova is an equal partner of the soloists in building the roles and understanding the essence and messages of each of the images, in their full stage brilliance.
In syncretic opera, teamwork at the State Opera - Burgas has always been an indispensable part of the process of achieving a high artistic level of the cultural institution in our city. In this regard, the work of each professional has been in focus, valued and honored with due respect for the creative energy invested in the name of the aesthetic messages presented to the audience.
Last year's winner of the prestigious award, nominated by the State Opera - Burgas, was the choirmaster Nevena Mihaylova.
Rayna POPOVA was born in 1948 in the city of Burgas. He graduated from the Music School in Burgas and the Bulgarian State Conservatory / National Academy of Music / in Sofia. He began his professional work back in 1969 at the still non-state Burgas Opera, as an opera accompanist and accompanist. Until 1994, he gave his energy and experience to generations of opera singers and young musicians. From 1994 to 2017 he worked in Turkey - at the Opera in Izmir and at the Mimar Sinan State Conservatory in Istanbul - teaching opera ensembles and repertoire and interpretation. The students, accompanied by Rayna Popova, have won awards from international competitions and are now famous singers on world stages.
For 53 years of work experience, of which 30 years in Bulgaria / at the Burgas Opera and the Music School in the seaside town /, Raina Popova has in her repertoire over 100 operas, hundreds of concerts with singers. She has toured in Poland, the Czech Republic, Turkey and Cyprus. He has won three awards of professional accompanists and 22 plaques on various occasions. For 14 years she was the official accompanist of the competition for young opera singers "Siemens" and "Leila Gencher" and made eight "Opera Masterclass". She has played with opera singers of the rank of: Katya Richarelli, Leila Gencher, Amelia Felle and others.
Since 2017, Rayna Popova has been returning to her favorite Burgas and since then she has been working again at the State Opera - Burgas, as an accompanist of the soloists of the Burgas cultural institution.
