With a performance of the opera "Samson and Delilah" to the music of the French composer Camille Saint-Saëns and directed by Assoc. Dr. Alexander Tekeliev, the Burgas Music Festival "Emil Chakarov" 2023 will be officially opened - on June 6 at 8:30 p.m. on the stage of the Summer Theater - Burgas. The musical holidays, which have become an emblem of the seaside city, will be held for the 16th time in a row, organized by the Municipality of Burgas and the State Opera - Burgas.
On June 10 at 11 a.m. in the hall of the State Opera - Burgas is the children's ballet performance "Red Riding Hood" directed by Maria Tabakova, which was presented several times on the Burgas stage to a full hall with an enthusiastic audience. Starring: Daniela Turtumanova-Stoyanova, Teodor Tsakov, Kiril Filipov, Emona Georgieva, Maria Gabarova.
This summer, the music festival named after the cosmopolitan Bulgarian conductor Emil Chakarov, in addition to the impressive opera title "Samson and Delilah", also includes a selected set of opera, operetta, and ballet productions, as well as children's titles. The comic ballet "Badly Protected Girl" with music by Louis Herold, directed by Galina Kalcheva, scenography - by Ivan Tokadzhiev and costumes - by Yana Dvoretska will be presented again on June 13 at 8:30 p.m. on the stage of the Summer Theater. The two premieres of the new title in the repertoire of the Burgas Opera - on April 7 and 29 of this year, passed with expected success and flattering reviews from the audience.
On June 21, at the same time and in the same place, is the concert performance "Latino Pulse", a stage adaptation for symphony orchestra, flamenco ballet, and electric violin, under the baton of maestro Svilen Simeonov, author of the arrangements, choreography - Maria Zmeeva-Markova, soloist – Ralitsa Petkova, electric and acoustic violin. The program includes the temperamental rhythms of bossa nova, samba, habanera, Brasileira, rumba, milonga, cha-cha-cha, hota, farandole, Aragon, and segidilia. On June 27 is the performance of the considered most romantic ballet "Giselle" to the music of Adolf Adam and directed by Galina Kalcheva, with the special participation of the prima ballerina of the Sofia Opera and Ballet and artistic director of the ballet troupe Marta Petkova - in the role of Giselle. Ivan Tokadjiev is the artist of the scenic set, completely done in the style of the ballet extravaganza, Anna-Maria Tokadjieva is the artist of the magnificent costumes. Soloists and ensemble of the ballet of the Burgas Opera, as well as graduates of NUMSI "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov" and Children's Ballet Theater "Kapka".
On July 3, the large-scale opera production directed by Associate Professor Alexander Tekeliev - "Ball with Masks" by Giuseppe Verdi will be presented, under the baton of maestro Ivan Kozhuharov. The Burgas Opera will be a guest with the super production on the stage of Tsarevets in the old capital city of Veliko Tarnovo - on July 8, at the official opening of the "Scene of the Centuries" festival. Soloists will be: Valery Georgiev, Ioana Zhelezcheva, Maryan Jovanoski, Maria Tsvetkova-Madjarova, Daniela Dyakova, Delyan Slavov, Diman Panchev, Valeri Turmanov, Lyubomir Todorov, Milen Dinolov.
From July 1 to 9, two prestigious international ballet events will be held in the building of the Burgas Opera House: the "Sara-Nora Prima" Ballet Academy /August 1-9/ and the First International Ballet Competition, also named after the famous prima ballerina and long-time director of the ballet to the Sofia Opera and Ballet Sara-Nora Krasteva. About 150 ballet dancers from 13 countries are expected to take part in the large-scale forum.
As part of the Burgas Music Festival, the management of the Burgas Opera has also planned children's titles - on July 11, at 6 p.m., a performance of the hit musical for children by Alexander Raychev will be presented on the stage of the Summer Theater, directed by Assoc. Dr. Alexander Tekeliev, "Piff, Puff, Puff"; at 8 p.m. on the same day there is another children's musical performance by Alexander Yosifov, again directed by Prof. Tekeliev - "Max and Moritz", and on August 6 at 7 p.m. there is a performance of the musical for children by Alexander Yosifov "Pinocchio", direction, scenography, and costumes - Denis Ivanov - the same hit title in the repertoire of the Burgas Opera, which has been performed for years successfully on the Burgas stage and on tour.
On July 18, at 8:30 p.m., on the stage of the Summer Theater - Burgas, there will be a performance of the opera "Tosca" by Giacomo Puccini, directed by Associate Professor Alexander Tekeliev. The soloists shine: Ioana Zhelezcheva, Valery Georgiev, Niko Iskakov /guest/, Diman Panchev, Kostadin Mechkov, Yani Nikolov, Petar Tiholov, Ivan Grozev, Stefka Hristozova.
On August 2, at 8:30 p.m., the performance of the attractive production of "Gypsy Baron", an operetta by Johann Strauss II, directed by Mario Nikolov, will be conducted by maestro Deyan Pavlov. Soloists: Yani Nikolov, Nona Krastnikova, Shmilena Sultanova, Yordan Hristozov, Aglika Petrova-Ellis, Diman Panchev, Petar Tiholov, Lina Peeva, Milen Dinolov.
On August 11, also on the stage of the Summer Theater is the concert show "Symphony Melody Rock", conducted by maestro Svilen Simeonov. Concertmaster – Hristo Belchev, soloists: Ralitsa Petkova – electric violin, Yana Chakalska – vocals, Adriana Benova – vocals. The orchestrations and adaptation of the songs for symphony orchestra and rock band are by maestro Simeonov.
On August 21, again at the Summer Theater, the performance of the "ballet of ballets" - "Swan Lake" by P. I. Tchaikovsky, Choreography, staging, and direction - Prof. Hikmet Mehmedov /after Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov/. The Burgas public and guests of the city will have the pleasure of watching Boryana Petrova /soloist of the Sofia Opera and Ballet/ and Emil Yordanov /soloist of the Sofia Opera and Ballet and Burgas Opera/ in the main roles.
On August 24th is the performance of the comic opera by Gioacchino Rossini "The Barber of Seville", directed by Dr. Alexander Tekeliev. The original production with innovative elements has been performed with great success for almost two years, the soloists will be Soloists /by author/: Andreya Mirchev /debut/, Kostadin Mechkov, Ioana Kadiyska, Dobromir Momekov, Delyan Slavov, Nona Krastnikova, Yordan Hristozov.
The Burgas Music Festival "Emil Chakarov" 2023 will be officially closed on September 4 at 8:00 p.m. on the stage of the Summer Theater - Burgas and the concert program will be specified further.
An upcoming exciting large-scale event in the program of the State Opera - Burgas, in partnership with the Municipality of Primorsko, is the "Opera of the Sanctuary" festival, which will be held for the fourth time. Among the natural decor of the Thracian holy place of Begliktash, some of the most performed and loved opera titles will be presented: the rarely performed masterpiece by Camille Saint-Saëns "Samson and Delilah", the Verdi operas "Nabucco" /August 12/ and "The Troubadour" /26 August/, and on August 5, 2023 – one of the most beloved operas in the world – "Carmen" by the French composer Georges Bizet, with which last year's festival "Sanctuary Opera" 2022 closed.
Another highlight in the summer program of the Burgas Opera is the traditional program "Party of the Island" 2023 with two attractive titles - "Don't go away, summer", with the special participation of the stars Edelina Kaneva and Orlin Pavlov, the conductor of the orchestra of the Burgas Opera will be the maestro Levon Manukyan. The concert performance is on July 14 at 9 p.m. on the picturesque open stage of St. Anastasia Island. The other title is another successful project of the State Opera - Burgas, also under the baton of Maestro Manukyan, based on the idea, script, and multimedia of Julia Manukyan - "The Golden Songs from the Golden Orpheus". The concert with soloists the beloved Bulgarian performers Orlin Goranov and Margarita Hranova continues to be performed with great success on various stages in Bulgaria.
