The composer Alexander Yosiffov's opera "Pinocchio" was staged for the first time on the stage of the State Opera - Burgas on February 24, 2018.
The young director, set designer, costume, and make-up artist at "PINOCCHIO" Denis Ivanov, has graduated from the classical singing and music-stage direction at the National Academy of Music "Pancho Vladigerov", and is currently studying "Scenography for Music Theater" at the National Academy of Arts. Gifted with multifaceted talent, the young artist strives to avoid "annoying patterns" in children's performances. He describes himself as being from a generation that grew up with the art of Walt Disney, which influenced his work as well. From fairy tale animations, he takes on beauty and fantasy. "This is the way to look at a children's play as a genre," he says. According to him, it is most difficult to make a play for children, because this audience is the most outspoken, most sensitive to false, to the good and the bad.
Pinocchio's orchestral accompaniment is performed under the baton of Maestro Tsanislav Petkov, and the artistic composition of the ballet at the State Opera - Burgas takes part in the performance.
The production is a beautiful kaleidoscope of a beloved fairy tale, characters who have acquired the dimensions of relics - for children and for grown-ups, emotionalism, drama, moving touches and, of course, the ubiquitous tale lesson that reminds us that as much as we grow up, we cannot escape the things we were taught when we were children - to be wholehearted, do good deeds, dedicated in our relationships, and keep in the most carefully guarded corner of our hearts the hope of the Blue Fairy, which fulfills desires.
