08 october 2026 A Wonderful Atmosphere at the "Neapolitan Evening at the Opera"

The atmosphere in the Burgas State Opera Hall last night was warm and inspiring—perfectly in tune with the delightful October weather outside—during the "Neapolitan Evening" concert, conducted by the spirited and captivating Maestro Svilen Simeonov.
The Burgas audience once again had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the uniquely vibrant spirit of Italian music and experience the beauty of the southern temperament.
The talented and charismatic young soloists—soprano Maria Yurkovskaya, tenor Yani Nikolov, and baritone Andrey Yurkovsky—joined by the wonderful musicians of the Burgas Opera Orchestra and concertmaster Hristo Belchev, performed popular *canzonette* with passion and a genuine connection to the audience. The crowd appreciated their professionalism and rewarded them with prolonged applause, earning two encores in the process.
Each soloist was swept up in the inimitable energy of Italian music, bringing to life the poetic messages woven into these melodic songs and transporting the audience into a beautiful world of music, love, trust, and the sheer joy of living—unconditional and spontaneous.
Maestro Simeonov also hosted the program, introducing each performance with carefully chosen, touching words.
The atmosphere in the hall was further enhanced by skillfully selected thematic multimedia visuals that aesthetically complemented the performances. The "Neapolitan Evening at the Opera" concert featured famous Italian and Neapolitan *canzonette*, including "Santa Lucia," "Torna a Surriento," "O sole mio," "Core ’ngrato," "Mamma," "Non ti scordar di me," "Funiculì Funiculà," "Mattinata," "Parlami d’amore Mariù," "Maria, Marì," "Marechiare," "La serenata," "L’addio di Napoli," and others.
The program alternated popular Italian *canzonette* with spirited Spanish melodies, as well as beautifully nostalgic musical interludes from American films thematically and narratively linked to Italy—*The Godfather* and *Once Upon a Time in America*.
This marks the second time the concert has been performed on a Burgas stage, following its brilliant premiere in June of this year and subsequent successful performances before large, enthusiastic audiences on St. Anastasia Island and in the town of Pomorie.
On October 27, the "Neapolitan Evening" program will be presented at the Artium Center in the town of Nessebar.
The concert was honored with the traditional basket of flowers from the Mayor of Burgas Municipality, Mr. Dimitar Nikolov. Video clips from the concert:
