One of the most popular and beloved operas in the world's classical music treasury - "Rigoletto" by Giuseppe Verdi this evening once again proved its exceptional emotional impact and dramatic charge of the musical text - through the inspired performance of the magnificent soloists, orchestra and choir, under the baton of the great Bulgarian conductor Ivan Kozhuharov.

The tragic story, revealing the rise and fall, the sublime feelings that metamorphosed into a deadly choice, the temptation leading to sin and cruel redemption, the purity of impulses trampled by the inexorability of spiritual corruption, the sacrifice in the name of love, albeit betrayed – the entire spectrum of diverse feelings was brilliantly conveyed – through music, text, stage presence and the charisma of the performers, who merged with the presented images, touching the senses and emotions.

After the great success and wide public response of the symphony concert on May 9, dedicated to Europe Day, when Ludwig van Beethoven's Ninth Symphony was performed under the baton of Ivan Kozhuharov, this evening he did not retreat from the high aesthetic level of the orchestral interpretation, which he skillfully led – through the various nuances of the dynamics and the presented states of mind of the protagonists. The musicians from the orchestra of the Burgas Opera, with concertmaster Hristo Belchev, sounded wonderful – they managed to recreate the gradation of the presented tragic story on stage in detail and in dramatic integrity. Verdi's music tells, carries the thought in the presented era, knows how to reach deep into the spiritual space, and bring catharsis. This is exactly the feeling that the orchestra achieved tonight, led by the doyen Kozhuharov.
